“She’s doing great,” John Varvatos tells PEOPLE of the stylish mom-to-be, who’s due with a baby girl later this month. “She’s counting the days right now,” he said Tuesday at the H&M Fashion Star party. “I know she can’t wait to deliver.” Varvatos and Simpson have stayed pals since filming the show, and the designer says he’s looking forward to seeing her tackle motherhood. “She’s going to be an absolutely amazing mom,” he notes. After getting to know the whole Simpson clan, Varvatos says he believes the singer and fiancé Eric Johnson won’t have any trouble creating a family as solid as the one she grew up in. “Her family was with her the entire time [through the pregnancy] — her mom and dad, her fiancé, and her sister Ashlee,” he says. “They’re just so close-knit that you know how this family has been raised.” Simpson’s relationships are her top priority, which Varvatos says comes from her parents, Joe and Tina. “She is all about family and all about friends,” he explains. “I just see that she’s going to be just like her parents.  Forget about a hospital gown. When it comes time to welcome her little girl into the world, soon-to-be mom Jessica Simpson hopes to make a fashionable first impression. “I just woke up from a dream that I wore a leopard caftan in the hospital,” the Fashion Star mentor, who’s expecting her first child with fiancé Eric Johnson at the end of the month, Tweeted Tuesday. “Fabulous!! Now I need to find one!” May we offer some suggestions? QVC has two suitable options: a Dennis Basso caftan (above, left) complete with beaded neckline (on sale for $44.86) and another — appropriately in petites! — by Joan Rivers (above, right, on sale for $33.36). ASOS has its own offering, an asymmetrical Helene Berman kaftan with a V neckline and wide-cut bracelet-length sleeves (on sale for $87.26). And for something a bit fancier, there’s Natori’s floor-length option from Neiman Marcus (also on sale, $81). I’ve been worried sick! My dog is an English bullterrier named Bianca and she’s 9 years old with kidney problems and all sorts of other diseases. She’s been alergic since she was a puppy so on meds all her life. I hope the surgery goes well! She’s my baby!

 Taking some time to kick her feet up during the last few days of her pregnancy, Jessica Simpson was spotted relaxing in the car as her mom, Tina, picked up some Chili’s takeout in Los Angeles, CA on Friday (April 20). The expecting mommy-to-be has apparently been getting some congratulations on her bundle of joy, but Simpson took to her Twitter page today to set the record straight, tweeting, “To everyone who keeps congratulating me on the birth of my baby girl…I’m still pregnant!!
