There seem to be problems with the gallery server today, sorry about that :(
Sorry for the delay! Jessica and CaCee dressed as Geishas in Tokyo, Japan on August 14th.
On the surface, Jessica Simpson may have seemed like the perfect replacement for Paula Abdul: Both are sweet, ever so slightly past-prime pop stars who aren’t exactly the verbally sharpest chickens in the sea.
But sadly (for the missed YouTube potential, if nothing else), the switcheroo is not to be.
J. Simp’s rep Cindi Berger has shot down reports that the blonde reality vet turned wannabe geisha will be filling the fourth seat at the American Idol judges’ table, telling E! News the rumors are “not true at all.” Tongues started wagging over the possible replacement this morning, when the New York Post claimed that Papa Joe Simpson was pushing for the casting coup.
Victoria Beckham she’s not.
Not content to let the official denial stand, however, the ever hands-on Simpson patriarch took to Twitter this morning to further stick it to the tabloid.
“So, I am in thailand…But, of course, the post says I am in town trying to get Jess to be the replacement for paula abdul…Do the lies ever stop????”
No, but the spell check clearly does.
However, in typical Hollywood-ending style, things may end up exactly where they started.
With Abdul’s name failing to turn up on the call sheets of Dancing With the Stars, Ugly Betty or even So You Think You Can Dance, it seems our favorite underappreciated judge is keeping her schedule well and clear, should producers have a sudden change of heart. Or salary offer.
Aren’t they gorjess? :)

ET’s with Jessica Simpson, Usher, Mariah Carey, Donald Trump and Martha Stewart as they serve up a behind-the-scenes look at their new Macy’s commercial for a good cause!
“After hours, Macy’s employees as well as all of us carrying our [celebrity] brands come together and have a dinner,” says Usher of the spirited ad, which also stars Queen Latifah, Tommy Hilfiger and Emeril Lagasse.
It’s the newest commerical from Macy’s and “Feeding America” for the “Come Together” campaign to help end hunger.
“It’s great that Macy’s is doing this because it’s going to draw attention to the situation and hopefully other people will follow suit,” Mariah tells ET.
“Hopefully this commercial will help raise money for ‘Feeding America,'” says Jessica. “I think that it’s such an incredible charity, and it’s amazing when you think about the numbers of how many people are hungry in America.”

Jessica Simpson probably didn’t feel like getting pelted with an open water bottle two nights in a row, so she opted for a quiet night in Thursday. The rest of the Simps, meanwhile, weren’t quite so camera-shy, opting instead to get their photo op on by turning up to the star-studded opening of a Gap pop-up store on Robertson Boulevard.
But while Jessica didn’t attend the soiree, mother Tina Simpson was more than willing to dish on how her daughter is dealing with the single life.
“Jessica is just a really strong girl,” Mama Simpson said. “She has her stuff together, she really does. She’s very solid, so I’m very proud of her.”
Apparently included in that pride is Tony Romo, despite his less than chivalrous birthday-eve dumping.
“We like all of our exes,” she said.
Not to nitpick, Tina, but we’re pretty sure you mean Jessica’s exes. Unless Papa Joe’s been passing around the Kool-Aid? As for all that attention her daughter receives, most of which is well outside the realm of positive, Simpson said the family’s game plan is more or less to keep clam.
“We just try to go with the flow. Try to keep our mouth shut when we’re walking out so you don’t say things. It’s kind of crazy.”
They may want to keep their doors and windows shut, too, lest any more flying containers splash down on the fam. Still, the clan has been keeping plenty busy this summer, and not just by dodging paparazzi waterworks. Simpson says they’ve been spending their time “working, hanging out, laying by the pool, enjoying the grandson.”
And no proud grandma would be complete without a little gushing. Take it away, Tina!
“He’s awesome. He’s a sweetheart—getting so big,” she said of Pete and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s bambino, Bronx.
“He’s hilarious. He’s very funny, but then he gets serious, and he’s crawling! He loves music—he’s talking already. I could talk all day about him. I’m a proud grandma!”
Forget about staying home to mope over her split with Tony Romo! Jessica Simpson was in a good mood Wednesday when she toasted her close pal and hairstylist Ken Paves for his birthday at Hollywood hotspot Beso.
Paves was surrounded by many famous friends at the restaurant’s private Kiss Lounge, including Eva Longoria – who co-owns Beso – Kim Kardashian, Mario Lopez and girlfriend Courtney Mazza, Joe and Tina Simpson, Cacee Cobb and Donald Faison.
“Everyone was hanging out, having a good time. There was a ton of food from Beso, tons of cocktails and everyone was dancing up a storm and hanging out with friends,” a guest at the 50-person party tells PEOPLE.
“Jessica was hanging out with Ken and having a good time dancing. She was laughing all night long, she was definitely having a great night,” says the source. “She seemed happy and fine.”
Simpson, 29, hung out with Kardashian, who is also newly single, as well as former assistant and good pal Cacee Cobb. She also got in some mother-daughter time with mom Tina, who was sitting at her table. “[Jessica] really was in a good mood,” says the source.
At midnight, a cake with sparklers was brought out to 50 Cent’s “It’s Your Birthday,” and everyone sang “Happy Birthday.” “Ken was really touched and thanked everyone for coming,” added the source.
Simpson stayed until the very end of the night and was the last one to leave, along with Paves, just before 2 a.m.
