Jessica Simpson probably didn’t feel like getting pelted with an open water bottle two nights in a row, so she opted for a quiet night in Thursday. The rest of the Simps, meanwhile, weren’t quite so camera-shy, opting instead to get their photo op on by turning up to the star-studded opening of a Gap pop-up store on Robertson Boulevard.
But while Jessica didn’t attend the soiree, mother Tina Simpson was more than willing to dish on how her daughter is dealing with the single life.
“Jessica is just a really strong girl,” Mama Simpson said. “She has her stuff together, she really does. She’s very solid, so I’m very proud of her.”
Apparently included in that pride is Tony Romo, despite his less than chivalrous birthday-eve dumping.
“We like all of our exes,” she said.
Not to nitpick, Tina, but we’re pretty sure you mean Jessica’s exes. Unless Papa Joe’s been passing around the Kool-Aid? As for all that attention her daughter receives, most of which is well outside the realm of positive, Simpson said the family’s game plan is more or less to keep clam.
“We just try to go with the flow. Try to keep our mouth shut when we’re walking out so you don’t say things. It’s kind of crazy.”
They may want to keep their doors and windows shut, too, lest any more flying containers splash down on the fam. Still, the clan has been keeping plenty busy this summer, and not just by dodging paparazzi waterworks. Simpson says they’ve been spending their time “working, hanging out, laying by the pool, enjoying the grandson.”
And no proud grandma would be complete without a little gushing. Take it away, Tina!
“He’s awesome. He’s a sweetheart—getting so big,” she said of Pete and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s bambino, Bronx.
“He’s hilarious. He’s very funny, but then he gets serious, and he’s crawling! He loves music—he’s talking already. I could talk all day about him. I’m a proud grandma!”
Forget about staying home to mope over her split with Tony Romo! Jessica Simpson was in a good mood Wednesday when she toasted her close pal and hairstylist Ken Paves for his birthday at Hollywood hotspot Beso.
Paves was surrounded by many famous friends at the restaurant’s private Kiss Lounge, including Eva Longoria – who co-owns Beso – Kim Kardashian, Mario Lopez and girlfriend Courtney Mazza, Joe and Tina Simpson, Cacee Cobb and Donald Faison.
“Everyone was hanging out, having a good time. There was a ton of food from Beso, tons of cocktails and everyone was dancing up a storm and hanging out with friends,” a guest at the 50-person party tells PEOPLE.
“Jessica was hanging out with Ken and having a good time dancing. She was laughing all night long, she was definitely having a great night,” says the source. “She seemed happy and fine.”
Simpson, 29, hung out with Kardashian, who is also newly single, as well as former assistant and good pal Cacee Cobb. She also got in some mother-daughter time with mom Tina, who was sitting at her table. “[Jessica] really was in a good mood,” says the source.
At midnight, a cake with sparklers was brought out to 50 Cent’s “It’s Your Birthday,” and everyone sang “Happy Birthday.” “Ken was really touched and thanked everyone for coming,” added the source.
Simpson stayed until the very end of the night and was the last one to leave, along with Paves, just before 2 a.m.

Jessica graces the cover of Polish tv mag called Tele Swiat, August 3 2009 issue. Always nice to see a cover with our girl :)
On her first post-breakup magazine cover — arrriving on newsstands August 11, Jessica Simpson opens up to Glamour Magazine about her relationships, body image, and her new VH1 reality series, The Price of Beauty.
Though the interview took place before her highly-publicized split with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, the 29-year-old reveals that she has no regrets about her nearly two year romance with Romo, saying, “I don’t regret anything I’ve gone through. I don’t know what the future holds, but I hope that my life, as it is now, doesn’t change. I’m very happy and comfortable — it’s a great place to be in. If this article comes out and we’re not together, I’d still love [Tony], and he’d still be a huge part of who I am today.”
Jessica on Recovering From Her Divorce From Nick Lachey:
“It was hard to imagine I would ever walk down the aisle again,” she says. “It was like a death in the family: You go through the mourning stage, then the rebellion, and then all of a sudden you have to find life by yourself. Once you do that, you feel complete — and that’s the only time you can truly fall in love again, and give yourself over completely to another person.”
Jessica on Body Image:
“It’s not fair that women look in the mirror and feel disgust because of what society has made them believe about beauty. I’ve been through it myself and understand the pressures. We’re all facing the same struggles together, whether you’re a celebrity or not.”
Jessica Explains Her Work Ethic:
“I’m never going to be a woman who doesn’t work. At 12 I was emancipated from my parents so I could sign my first record deal. I think I was born working!”
On the legacy she’d like to leave behind:
“Tony said, ‘Jessica, at the end of your life, the only thing that’s going to flash through your mind and heart is your husband, kids, family and the people you love. You’re not going to think, I wish I’d done this with my career. And I’m not going to remember how many touchdown passes I threw or if I won the Super Bowl.’ Music is the heart of who I am, and it’s the most personal thing that I do.”

August 3rd, 2009: The paps caught up with Jessica Simpson and friend Ken Paves at Mulholland Park Monday afternoon. The two were there walking the dogs and Jessica appeared to have put on a few pounds again.
With successful lines encompassing everything from frocks to luggage, bikinis and fragrances under her stylish belt, Jessica Simpson might just be the reigning queen of celebrity merchandising. And as we announced earlier this summer, the curvy star will be adding lingerie to her style empire — and she’s talking with WWD.com about the new collection, which has just launched for the trade industry at the Vandale showrooms in Manhattan.
“My intimates are feminine and sweet with a hint of fun,” she tells the paper. And her jump to lingerie was born out of a genuine passion for the stuff, “I love lingerie. What girl doesn’t?” she asks rhetorically. “My lingerie reflects the way I’m feeling when I wake up and helps me set the tone for my day.” As any buxom woman knows, however, finding gorgeous designs to set that tone can be tricky. “It is important to me personally…to be able to wear my own line,” she says. “Vandale is developing a great collection of feminine, sexy, regular and full-figured bras which are going to be amazing. We are also working on a sleepwear collection that I know I will live in. We have focused on using really soft fabrics that feel good against your skin. The whole line centers around great basics for every day that are comfortable and fit your body. We spent a lot of time on the details. I really wanted to make this line special.” Her favorite creations? “I love the seersucker group because it is just classic and so adorable. We also have a beautiful print group that was inspired by Morocco. It is both exotic and feminine at the same time. We also created a denim and floral set that is flirty and fun,” she says.
