Mom-to-be Jessica Simpson left her NYC hotel this morning with her fiancé Eric Johnson and her own mother Tina. The trio hopped into their vehicle and zoomed off to the fashion district, where Jessica had an early morning meeting. She’s in the Big Apple following a holiday visit to Boston over Thanksgiving. Jessica and Eric visited his family, though she brought along some of her own Texas traditions to the gathering.
The pregnant star showed off her growing bump last night on the red carpet at the Footwear News Achievement Awards. Jessica posed for photos with Eric in a formfitting red Donna Karan dress, then moved inside to mingle with fellow shoe designers Rachel Zoe and Brian Atwood. Jessica attended the special event to present her close friend and business partner Vince Camuto with the brand of the year statue.
“She may be pregnant now, writes Star about Jessica Simpson, before asking how did she used to “keep a once flabby tummy down?”
According to the tabloid, Simpson “would shove a piece of cardboard up her top to give the illusion of a flat stomach.”
Uh, huh…
The mag then quotes an unnamed “fashion insider,” who supposedly worked with Simpson, as saying, “It was a very strange thing to do.”
Not nearly as strange as Star‘s claim about the singer-actress-entrepreneur.
Anyway, since it’s Thanksgiving, and we’re always looking for ways to not look big after our annual feast, Gossip Cop reached out to a mutual pal of ours and Simpson to see if it was true.
Nope.
A Simpson friend completely laughed off Star‘s cardboard stomach flattening assertion, and told us it was “absurd.”
Guess we can now throw out all those cardboards boxes we’ve been keeping for days like this.
Of all the shameful things tabloids write – and it’s a long list – maybe nothing is as bad as fabricating danger to babies and children.
That’s exactly what OK! does this week.
The magazine’s cover story is all about Jessica Simpson‘s alleged “baby crisis,” including her “doctor’s shocking warning.”
According to OK!, “medical fears and emotional turmoil are spoiling what should be the happiest time” of Simpson’s life.
Wow, so what’s supposedly wrong?
The tab quotes a “friend” as saying Simpson has been “dizzy and nauseous” during her pregnancy, while an OK! “insider” contends, “She was totally unprepared for how hard it would be on her body.”
So… she has morning sickness?
What about the “crisis” that supposedly “could threaten her health – and her child”?
Well, the magazine claims Simpson’s been eating junk food.
“Everything she eats is highly processed with chemicals and preservatives, white flour and sugar,” alleges the “insider,” who adds that Simpson’s sister, Ashlee, and her doctor have both advised her to eat more healthfully.
So… she has cravings?
The OK! article gets even more ridiculous from there, mentioning that “everything on [Simpson] is swollen,” and that she’s “also sleep-deprived.”
In other words, OK! describes the typical experience of pregnancy and sensationalizes it as a medical emergency “baby crisis.”
Because the tabloid has nothing, it then discusses the “emotional angst” coming from Simpson’s purported “bitter conflict” with beau Eric Johnson over a prenup.
“Jessica said she was starting to think they’d never work it out,” explains a “source.”
On the financial stuff, OK! was wrong two weeks ago, and the tab is still wrong.
A source close to Simpson again tells Gossip Cop that it’s “totally ridiculous.”
And the magazine’s trumped-up tales of Simpson eating her way through a dangerous pregnancy are as baseless as they are sensationalized.
A source tells us,
“She hired a chef who has been making healthy meals for everyone.”
“Jessica Simpson won’t give birth until next spring, but she’s already planning her post-baby slimdown!” begins an Us Weekly piece, which claims the pregnant singer is negotiating a $4 million Weight Watchers deal to shed her baby weight.
The mag says Simpson “had initially intended to sign with the company to lose weight she had gained over the past few years,” but then she got pregnant, so Weight Watchers supposedly came up with the plan for her to drop her pregnancy pounds.
A “source” for Us says Simpson will have one year to ”lose a significant amount of weight” through the point-counting weight loss regimen.
“She’ll then show off her results in ads for the company — much like current spokeswoman Jennifer Hudson,” adds the mag.
Well, someone is certainly getting ahead of themselves here, but it’s not Simpson.
While a rep for the singer wouldn’t comment about the possibility of a Weight Watchers deal in the future, a family insider tells Gossip Cop,
Jessica Simpson’s A-list baby shower brought together famous friends Jessica Alba, Gwen Stefani and Ali Larter at the singer’s Hollywood Hills home Sunday afternoon. Simpson’s younger sister, Ashlee Simpson, was also in attendance, X17.com reports.
While the ladies took over the house to celebrate, Simpson’s fiance, football player Eric Johnson, was banished to Casa Vega Mexican restaurant.
After keeping mum for months about her pregnancy, Simpson let the cat out of the bag via Twitter on Halloween, when celebrity watchers estimated she was already about six months along. The pregnancy was one of the worst kept secrets in entertainment, and OK! Magazine ran a cover story Oct. 19 with a picture of the blonde chanteuse “exclaiming,” “Yes! I’m having a baby,” weeks before Simpson confirmed it.
Lately, Simpson can’t stop tweeting about being pregnant. “The average person expels flatulence 15 times each day! The average pregnant woman farts 15 times that!” she wrote earlier this month.
A few days later, she tweeted a photo of herself in a new dress. “My belly is officially bigger than my boobs..well kinda…ha,” she said.
Simpson is apparently planning to shed her baby weight quickly, though. Sources tell Us Weekly that the singer is in talks to represent Weight Watchers, in a deal worth $4 million. Simpson would have a year to “lose a significant amount of weight” to become a spokeswoman for the dieting giant, alongside Jennifer Hudson.
Insiders say that Simpson was actually on board to represent the company even before she found out she was having a baby. “Then she got pregnant,” says the source. “So this was the perfect compromise.”
Jessica Simpson won’t give birth until next spring, but she’s already planning her postbaby slimdown!
The mom-to-be, 31, is in talks with Weight Watchers for a $4 million deal to shed pregnancy pounds, Us Weekly has exclusively learned.
Simpson — engaged to ex-NFL star Eric Johnson — had initially intended to sign with the company to lose weight she had gained over the past few years.
“But then she got pregnant,” says the source. “So this was the perfect compromise.”
Under the contract, Simpson would have one year to use the point-counting program to “lose a signficant amount of weight,” says the insider.
She’s then show off her results in ads for the company — much like current spokeswoman Jennifer Hudson.
Despite the deal, Simpson isn’t letting her weight gain get her down. “I’m bigger than I’ve ever been,” she recently told Us. “But I want to show off my bump!”

Hmmm… I wonder what GossipCop has to say about that!
Jessica Simpson may be one of the pros on NBC’s upcoming show Fashion Star, but she admits her own style choices haven’t always been the best.
“There are a lot of things I’ve worn and look back on and think, ‘Oh, my,’” the mom-to-be recently told PEOPLE. “When it comes to beauty, I think a big misconception is the tanner you are, the more beautiful you are. It’s not always true. I look back on a lot of pictures where I’m really tan, and I’m like, ‘Whoa!’”
But Simpson has only learned from her mistakes — and they’ve inspired her to strive to keep her Jessica Simpson line of shoes and apparel impeccable.
“I’m in all those meetings,” she said. “I know the zipper pulls, I know what you’re going to be purchasing next spring. I know what’s going to be trending. It’s really fun to take all those meetings and try and play great guessing games of what the public’s going to buy.”
Simpson, who said she’s a big fan of the current colorblocking trend, is also in the know when it comes to taking care of her skin. The former Proactiv spokeswoman recently teamed up with skincare expert Nerida Joy to introduce BeautyMint, an affordable, personalized line sold on the web.
“We go to department stores and we have no idea what these people are telling us,” Simpson said. “We just know to get the ‘it’ product because it’s working on this A-celebrity. It’s kind of like you’re spending too much money on something you don’t really know.”
BeautyMint requires taking a quiz to “get to know about your skin,” similar to JewelMint, StyleMint and ShoeMint, which tailor fashion offerings to a shopper’s style preferences. Simpson said the questionnaire “really acts as a professional, helping you, guiding you through your skincare regimen. It definitely will only give you products that work for your skin.”
