Pregnant Jessica Simpson has developed a big craving for salty macaroni and cheese, revealing she can happily gobble a packet a day. The actress/singer and TV personality is expecting her first child this spring and admits there’s one comfort food she simply can’t get enough of.
She tells Access Hollywood,
“I’m a big fan of Kraft Mac N’ Cheese… That keeps me happy. That keeps me sodium happy.
“I, like, wake up swollen because I put Lowry’s seasoning salt all over it.”
Savoury Simpson has also become a fan of desserts during her pregnancy and much of the food she’s craving take her back to her youth.
She explains, “I’m craving a lot of things I had when I was a kid, like, this morning I buttered a Pop Tart. I haven’t done that in years.”
Simpson doesn’t need to worry too much about piling on the pounds while pregnant – she has signed a big deal with diet firm WeightWatchers and hopes to lose the bulk using their healthy tips after her baby is born.
Ever fall in love with a garment that a Project Runway designer makes on a recent episode, and wish you could buy it at your local mall ASAP? That’s the exact impulse that NBC’s upcoming reality show Fashion Star is capitalizing on for a fashionable advantage. The winning designs will be available online as soon as an episode ends, and in stores the next morning. Read on to find out which major retailers will be carrying the winning pieces, and what mentors Jessica Simpson and Nicole Richie are saying about the show’s format!
The upcoming design competition is hosted by supermodel Elle Macpherson and features Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos as mentors to fourteen designers. One will win $6 million worth of orders for clothes collections in Macy’s, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue stores.
However, viewers may be able to buy clothes designed by a number of contestants, because whenever there’s a challenge on the show, the winning garment will be available for purchase online just after the episode airs, and one of the three major retailers the next morning.
At the Television Critics press tour last week, mentors and judges Jessica Simpson and Nicole Richie elaborated on the unique format of their upcoming reality show, Fashion Star.
“We wanted to mentor these contestants for having a lifestyle brand, said Simpson, who says the show gives contestants a chance to “really making a name for yourself.”
Even more so, the judges mentor all the contestants, rather than dividing into teams like The Voice or The X Factor.
“We’re working together to make each designer a better version of themselves,” said Nicole Richie.
Fashion Star launches with a special two-hour premiere on Tuesday, March 13th at 9pm!
Will you be watching the first season of Fashion Star?
JESSICA Simpson says her fashion sense is being hindered by her breasts! (lmao!)
The 31-year-old reality TV star, singer and fashion mogul says she is relieved to have shot new show Fashion Star before her current pregnancy due to her super-curvy figure.
“Shooting the show before I was pregnant was a relief,” says Jessica who is expecting her first child with fiance Eric Johnson in the spring.
“It’s a good job because right now I have trouble seeing anything beyond my boobs! I wouldn’t know what I was looking at much less be able to have an opinion on it.”
Recent reports claimed Jessica inked an estimated $3 million deal with Weight Watchers.
“The deal is in place, and after having her baby, she’ll start with Weight Watchers to lose her baby weight,” a source said.
Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson are teaming up as mentors for NBC’s newest series Fashion Star and have already become great pals. With a baby due in the coming weeks, the House of Harlow designer told OK! that Jessica is set to be such a “great mom,” that she doesn’t need help from anyone else.
“She is a great mom,” Nicole, an experienced mom of two, gushed to OK! of the 31-year-old while out at the FOX TCA All Star Party in Pasadena on Friday.
While Nicole explained that Jessica, expecting her first child with fiancé Eric Johnson, “doesn’t need my advice,” when it comes to motherhood, she did have some wise words on maternity wear.
“I would say to just wear what you are comfortable in and there are no rules. It really just depends on how you feel,” Nicole explained to OK! of how to dress while pregnant, “With my daughter, I was wearing five-inch heels until I gave birth to her and with my son, I wasn’t.”
Even though both Nicole and Jessica have fashion empires selling out in stores across the globe, at the end of the day its all about being confident.
“Go with what you are comfortable in and go with what makes you feel good about yourself,” Nicole added to her advice for any expecting mom’s style.
NBC’s Fashion Star, hosted by Elle Macpherson, is set to premiere on Mar. 13.
When Jessica Simpson walked out on stage yesterday at the TV Critics Press Tour to promote her new show Fashion Star, she appeared to be about 17 months pregnant. With twins.
She’s not, of course. But she is certainly ready to pop. And it’s not fair how beautiful she looked while sporting that baby bump. Thankfully, she was in great sprits while talking to us about why she fell in love with Fashion Star’s concept and the quick arrival of her maternity line. Plus, we did a little test with her to help predict the sex of her first born…You’re welcome!
Simpson has yet to find out the sex of her baby (by choice), but she admitted to us her resolve is going to crack, and she’ll want to know soon.
“I think it’s going to happen,” she says. “It’s hard to keep that secret from yourself. Now that we’re about to start the nursery, I kind of want to know.”
As for that maternity line, you won’t have to wait nine months for that line to deliver itself to stores (pregnancy puns are fun). Jessica Simpson: Maternity will be on shelves as early as February!
“It’s really challenging to find adorable stuff. And fashionable stuff and stuff that doesn’t make you look like a house,” she tells us. “You want stuff that’s flattering to your bump; you want to show your bump off. We’re going to come out with some really great stuff. Lots of cute denim for all the ladies out there who are afraid to get dressed up pregnant.”
But if you expect to see Simpson showing off her bump via denim on Fashion Star, you’re out of luck.
” We shot the show before I got pregnant. We shot the entire thing between July and August. I mean, I could have gotten pregnant in there somewhere!” she laughs.
Jessica Simpson may be pregnant, but she hasn’t been hitting the maternity section in recent months.
“I definitely look at comfort, I buy bigger sizes,” she said at the NBC’s Television Critics Association Winter Session panel for “Fashion Star,” of how being pregnant with her first child has changed her thoughts on dressing. “I haven’t really gone to maternity clothes because I don’t really love maternity stuff.”
The singer and reality television star said she’s been so turned off by the clothing available to expectant women, she’s planning to launch her own maternity wear.
“The next thing you will see from the Jessica Simpson collection is maternity,” she said.
Beginning March 13, Jessica will serve as one of the celebrity mentors to the up and coming designers on NBC’s “Fashion Star,” from host and Executive Producer Elle MacPherson.
“The designers are from all over America, some of them are in their basements making jeans, some of them have their own businesses that are more profound,” Elle told AccessHollywood.com on Friday afternoon.
The show will feature designers competing for bids from retail buyers from Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and H&M.
“They have not had a line in any of these retailers, so it’s the first opportunity for them to present their work to these powerhouses here,” Elle told Access after the panel session.
Unlike other reality shows, all of the celebrity mentors – Jessica, as well as Nicole Richie and John Varvatos – will work with all of the contestants.
“We all got to work with each designer, which I think was really helpful to them because we all bring something different,” Nicole told reporters during the “Fashion Star” session. “John is a legend, he’s an icon, and Jessica knows this business, she built her brand from the ground up, and I’m a genius (laughs), so it was really nice because we all brought different opinions. We’re not competing against each other, we’re all working together to make each designer a better version of themselves.”
The winner of each week on “Fashion Star” will have their collections debut that night online, and the following day in the winning bidder’s store. The overall winner will have their collection appear in all of the three outlets.
“It’s just as much about shopping as it [is] about fashion,” Elle said of the show.
Jessica Simpson will be on the “Fashion Mentors” on the new NBC show Fashion Star. Aspiring designers will compete for buyers like H&M and Macy’s to actually put their designs on the market the day after the show airs. Sporting a lovely healthy bump herself, Simpson discussed her plans for new maternity clothes at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
“I definitely look at comfort,” Simpson said. “I buy bigger sizes which is very important but I haven’t really gone to maternity clothes. I don’t really love a lot of maternity stuff so I’m using it as a fun business thing to do. The next thing you’ll see form the Jessica Simpson Collection is maternity.”
As a mentor, Simpson shared some of her advice for new designers just breaking into the business.
“I personally think that it’s important to understand who your consumer is and once you get detached from that, thinking you’re this hotshot designer is when everything goes to waste. It’s really being able to be a relatable person and brand and being able to translate that into your garment.”
As for her own pregnancy, Simpson is trying to keep the focus on her clothes, but she gave a few updates.
“I feel great. The pregnancy’s going great. I’m just waddling around now. We’re not saying the due date but it’s in the spring so it’s coming. I do want to be surprised [on the gender but], we’ve gone through all different kinds of names but we’re pretty much set on our name so we’ll see what happens.”
Happy New Year! Parents-to-be Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson had much to celebrate in the late hours of Dec. 31, and did so surrounded by friends at the Purple Palm in the Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs, Calif. The couple and their pals partied in a private dining room, enjoying dinner and conversation. “It looked like they were having a great time,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Everyone was very dressed up and they were definitely there to celebrate.”
Looks like two of Hollywood’s most famous Jessicas have a mutual admiration for one another.
Jessica Simpson – who is expecting her first child with fiancé Eric Johnson this spring – complimented Jessica Alba on her post-baby bikini body just five months after welcoming daughter Haven with husband Cash Warren.
“New goal: look like @jessicaalba after baby. Job well done lady!” Simpson, 31, Tweeted Tuesday.
Alba was flattered by the praise, responding on Twitter,
“OMG! Ur so sweet! Thx hon!”
While the pals may soon be sharing post-pregnancy slim-down tricks, what about parenting advice?
“I’m friends with her so I’m going to talk to her about that personally,” Alba, 30, recently told PEOPLE.
Not only do Simpson and Alba have growing families (and a first name) in common, but also both have Ivy League loves, whom they joined at the Yale reunion in June.
