        • Clearing up a rumor
LaineyGossip.com posted this 'story' on their website:

"Am told by sources exclusively that Jessica Simpson fired her band last week after suspending the tour. She’s taking a year off. Which essentially means the label doesn’t want her, that country music doesn’t want her, that she needs to find something else to do."

Considering the fact that bad/crazy/ugly rumors spread the fastest I'd just like to say that there is NO TRUTH to this story! Jessica is with her band right now in Idaho actually getting ready for the show. Just clearing that up in case you've heard about this.

I LOVE YOUR SITE !!!! YOU'RE THE BEST !! I check it EVERYDAY !!! I went to her concert in Biloxi Feb 20th and got the chance to go backstage and meet Jessica. She was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and FLAWLESS. She was super tiny (all the tabloids are crap). My husband even commented on how teeny she was. I walked up to her, gave her a hug and told her how beautiful she was. She said "aww thank you." I said LOOK i have your boots on, she said "aww yeah i love those !!" I was about to leave and we grabbed hands and I told her I loved her and she said "I love you too have fun !!" She was soooooooooo sweet. She looks so dainty and just like a human barbie. Besides my wedding day, it was the best day of my life. I have dreamed of meeting her and cannot believe it happened. I met her entire band who are all awesome. I took pictures with every one (including Jess - they wouldnt let us use our own camera with her, some guy took our picture and says he will email them). The concert was Friday and I have gotten the pics emailed yet....i am ANXIOUSLY waiting, it's like torture hahaha. As soon as i get the pics i will email them to you. I great pics from the concert we were on 10th row, center stage, PERFECT seats.

I brought your site and your name up somehow to Trey and he said he knew you... that's awesome, he is so amazing. He is the one that got us backstage.

Her set list was Boots, Still Beautiful, You're My Sunday, Sippin on History, With You, Remember that, band intro, Angels, Pray out loud, Preacher Man, When I loved you like that, Still dont stop me, Come on Over, Do you know. (She sounded perfect on every song)

I am going to see her in New Orleans also, and i will update you on that too =) Thanks for all you do for this site and the time you take to keep it updated.

Jessica looked amazing. She was great vocally and she did not mess up any of her lyrics. She was flawless, she performed about 1hr and 5 minutes. Her playlist was as follow:
These Boots Was Made For Walking
Still Beautiful
You're My Sunday
Sippin On History
With You
Remember That
Pray Out Loud
When I Loved You Like That
Come On Over
Do You know

Believe it or not the crowd went crazy when the curtains opened. We had to keep telling people to set down. There were a few fans there with a Romo Jersey on. I think Angels, Do You Know, With You, Your My Sunday the crowd loved the most. It's funny but last night it seemed like she went thru the songs fast, she took a 5-10 minutes break and let her band introduce themselves. She kept her introduction to her songs short. I get the feeling Jessica is a little tired of all the touring. She only has a few more shows to go. Last night she talked about her feet hurting because she had a pair of new shoes on.
To be honest I did not realize I would enjoy her show the way I did, the reason I say that is because in the past when we get reports from her other shows there was always some kind of drama. Last night was straight to the point, singing the high notes, and not messing up the words to her songs.. I was asked if I thought it was something she needs to improve on, I could not find anything she needed to improve. I can say that honestly because everything she usually gets knocked for she did not do last night. When introducing Y.M.S. she said she wrote this song for this guy in her life that she is very much in love with. No one booed when she mentioned she was in love during the introduction of the song. It was really nice seeing Jessica in person. She was so amazing live. Her personality comes across as very friendly and strong. From some of the things she said I know she don't let the tabloids lies about her relationship bother her. I may just go see her when she comes to New Orleans.

        • Rachael Ray Envies Jessica Simpson's Body
Food wasn't the only thing on Rachael Ray's mind in Miami this week – beach bods made the list too, of course.

"I wish I could be as thin as Jessica Simpson," Ray, 40, told PEOPLE while hosting the Amstel Light Burger Bash at Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival Thursday night. "I think she looks gorgeous!"

The Emmy-award winning TV host looked pretty hot herself as she made the rounds in a tent erected behind the Ritz Carlton in a short black sheath.

"I have had Jessica on my show several times, and I can tell you that girl is genuine and funny with a great self-deprecating sense of humor," Ray added. "All of the hoopla about her weight was because of the fit of her jeans. In reality, she is a tiny, slip of a woman."

• Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was in the audience at the sold-out Rascal Flatts concert at Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial Saturday night. His girlfriend, Jessica Simpson, is the warm-up act for Rascal Flatts and they arrived Saturday afternoon in her private touring bus. Romo asked SMG general manager Jeff Calkins where he could work out.

"He worked out for a good hour, using the Amerks weight room and running the arena stairs," said Calkins. "We could've accommodated him with a suite, but he didn't ask for one. He watched the concert in an upper level section with a Cowboys stocking cap and sweatshirt. He didn't attract much attention."

After the concert, Simpson and Romo left for the airport, presumably for a flight to Dallas. The Rascal Flatts tour is taking a week off before resuming in Boise, Idaho.

        • Jessica Simpson Shouts Out Love for Tony Onstage
Jessica Simpson was feeling the love on Valentine's Day – throwing out more than one "I love you" to NFL-player boyfriend Tony Romo during her Saturday night performance in Rochester, N.Y.

"I'm celebrating the life I’m living right now," the singer, flaunting muscular bare legs in a sexy black mini-dress, told the nearly full auditorium.

Introducing "You're My Sunday," a song she co-wrote for Romo, Simpson, 28, announced, "Somebody came into my life and made me see myself in the best mirror possible, so I wrote this song for her."

Simpson immediately caught her slip. "Ha! Can you imagine?" she said before then joking that she had penned the number for her dog, Daisy.

Looking toward Romo, she said, "Sorry, baby. This song's for you."

Before ending her set with "Do You Know," which she recorded with Dolly Parton, Simpson told the audience she wouldn't be onstage without the country legend's longtime support. Last week, Parton defended Simpson's curvy shape on Larry King Live.

"Do You Know" drew her right back to talking about her beau. "This song makes me want to suck face. I love kissing," said Simpson, "with the right lips, of course."

"I was at the Rochester concert last night. She was absolutely amazing! Her voice was even better than the Niagara show I went to in August.

To clarify the dedication to "My Sunday," Jessica was dedicating it to Tony. However, she said, 'I dedicate this song to her.' Once she realized what she said she laughed and said, 'Yes, this is for you Daisy. Haha! I can't believe I just said that. I'm sorry baby, this is for you!' Pretty much she mispoke 'her' instead of 'him' and made a joke about it.

Basically the real dedication was for Tony. It was just another 'Jessica' moment. It was an absoltely amazing concert!

By the way, she looks amazing! One bad outfit and suddenly she's fat. She looked as beautiful as ever."

        • Jessica Simpson & Tony Romo Going Strong
Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are more in love than ever – and are planning to spend a romantic Valentine’s Day a deux, a source tells PEOPLE.

"They're very much looking forward to spending Valentine's Day together," says the source close to Simpson. "[Tony] is the nicest guy. He adores her. They are so in love with each other."

Whatever their specific plans, the couple will be in Rochester, New York, for the romantic day where she is opening for Rascal Flatts.

On Thursday night, Simpson strutted onstage in a sexy black mini-dress at Madison Square Garden and dedicated "You’re My Sunday" to her Dallas Cowboys quarterback beau, who was in the audience with some friends and Simpson's parents.

"There is something about being in love, right?" Simpson told the audience. "It just makes you appreciate everyday, right?... That's kinda how I feel right now."

According to a source, Simpson waved at Romo before she started the song and he waved back. "He had the biggest grin," says the source. "Then, Tony was singing along to the words."

After Simpson sang her tune "Angels," Romo was equally enthusiastic. "He was like, 'She nailed it! Awesome!' " says the source.

During the show, Simpson, who is known for her self-deprecating humor, joked about previous wardrobe malfunctions she's had at Madison Square Garden. "I've had times when my pants split right down the middle," she told the audience. "That's why I'm wearing a skort – not a skirt, not a short – just so they wouldn't split."

"Hey! I love your site so much! I am a huge Jessica fan she’s my Idol! I went to MSG last night just to see her! She was absolutely amazing her voice sounded so great! It was just like listening to her on a CD! Even my friend that I was with who likes Jess but isn’t a super fan like me turned to me and said wow she has a really good voice! I miss seeing Jessica in concerts by herself but she was on the stage for a pretty good amount of time! I read the article on your site that was posted by OK! Magazine and I now see first hand how the tabloids can totally take someone’s words and turn them into something else! Last night Jessica said that she decided to wear a skort because every time she came to Madison Square Garden her pants seemed to rip, just some sort of bad luck! I remember a story she once told about opening to the Backstreet Boys (I think?) (It was Ricky Martin, lol - Joanna.) and her pants did rip and she had to run off stage and wear her moms pants! I saw how OK Magazine turned that into something about Jessica making a joke about her weight, which was not the point of her comment at all! It was totally taken out of context! She was just making a joke! I just thought that was funny and wanted to share my Jessica experience with you! I really would love to see Jessica do some shows of her own where all the fans there are there for her! Thanks for such a great site!"

Live Review: Rascal Flatts - Madison Square Garden, New York

Despite being located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, the fabled Madison Square Garden was transformed into Any Country Town, USA on Thursday, February 12. The New Yorkers donned their shitkickers and ten gallon hats—who knew they even had 'em—for a night of twangy country music doled out by two family-friendly artists: Jessica Simpson and Rascal Flatts. Both the audience and the artists made me feel like I was anywhere but the biggest urban metropolis on earth. Even with a capacity crowd on hand, both Simpson and Rascal Flatts emitted a cozy, comfortable warmth on an otherwise chilly, wind-bitten night.

Simpson has been battling a barrage of bad press over an unflattering pair of mom jeans that she donned a few weeks back. This evening, however, the pop-princess-turned-country-crooner looked incredibly fit and in tip-top shape, garbed in a black romper and sky-high heels that revealed that toned legs that go on for days. Her voice may not be stronger than most of her peers, but Simpson's pipes were carrying just fine (and with the assistance of a backup singer) in the world's most famous arena. Simpson opened with her loyal cover of "These Boots Were Made For Walking," before launching into new country numbers like "You're My Sunday" and "With You," during which hordes of adoring Simpsonites nearly drowned out their heroine's voice by screaming along. Clearly, the Jessica Simpson brand has suffered no ill effects from the rash of undeserved, weight-focused publicity she's endured recently. She sang in the center of the stage that extended into the crowd and was increasingly mobile while all eyes fixed on her. She also told women in abusive relationships could take their hearts and run them before belting out another heartfelt hit. The tour and Simpsons' Do You Know record should affirm her place in the country scene. "Come On Over" was the biggest crowd pleaser, and rightfully so. Simpson ended her set with the title track of her new album.

        • Jess Sees the Funny Side of Weight Gain
It seems that Jessica Simpson's reported weight "scandal" is weighing heavily on her mind - even influencing her wardrobe decisions. When she took the stage tonight at NYC's Madison Square Garden, there were no more tight jeans and tops like the ones in those now infamous snaps from a Jan. 25 chili cookoff in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Instead she wore shorts covered by a long, loose top in slimming black. Jess even joked with the audience that she had decided not to wear pants because she was worried they would tear!

"I was worried my pants would rip tonight!" she joked with the crowd.

Supporting country hitmakers Rascal Flatts, Jessica seemed back on her game after a shaky performance last week in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There were no more of the fumbled lines or do-overs that her rep had explained away as Jess being a "perfectionist." But she did seem at pains to silence the rumors that she and boyfriend Tony Romo had split. Jess peppered her nine song set with lovey-dovey references to her Dallas Cowboys quarterback beau, who didn't seem to have made the trip to the Big Apple.

Introducing "You Are My Sunday," she said, "You know there's something about being in love that makes you happy to be alive every day. It's OK if it's Groundhog Day if you're in love. Well, that's kind of how I feel right now."

And in what seemed to be nod to the recent gossip about her weight, Jess told the audience that when she'd played Madison Square Garden in the past, her pants had ripped.

"So I wanted to wear something tonight that I knew wouldn't split!," she laughed.

That's it Jess - don't let the haters get you down!

• Source: OKMagazine.com

- Well OK! Magazine didn't quite get that 'pants ripping' comment: it wasn't Jess 'seeing funny side of the weight gain', it was simply a reference to the fact that when she played the Madison Square Garden before a few years back her pants split while she squatted to hit a high note and she had to borrow a pair from her mom, lol.

        • Jessica Simpson Says She's Right Where She's supposed to be
Jessica Simpson is not letting recent criticism get her down. The singer, who helped announce nominations for the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Wednesday, says she's fine just as she is, thank you very much.

"Honestly, I am right where I'm supposed to be. I am so happy," she said on The Early Show Wednesday. "Right now I'm on tour with Rascal Flatts having a blast."

Part of having a blast includes spending time with friends – and boyfriend Tony Romo. The pair had a casual fun-filled night out over the weekend at The Great Dane Pub in Madison, Wis., where they partied after she opened for Rascal Flatts at The Kohl Center Saturday night.

Cozy Couple
"They came in side-by-side at about 10 p.m. with a big group," according to Ted Peterson, the pub's director of operations. "She hung out with a few of her friends – mostly women – in a lounge area we had set up for them. He played pool with his buddies from Burlington, Wisconsin … When Rascal Flatts came in later on, they joined her in the lounge area. She stood up and high-fived them and they all hung out."

During the time they were there the singer "didn't eat much," says Peterson. "They ordered three things, which isn't much for eight people." As for the drinks, Peterson says Simpson sipped on Grey Goose and cranberry while the guys drank beer.

Peterson says he was struck by how great Simpson looked and how happy she and Romo seemed together.

At the end of the night, Simpson and Romo, both 28, embraced and talked closely. "He came up to her and was holding her," says Peterson. "They were in a half hug, talking closely. They seem like they're very much in love. They looked very happy."

Jessica Simpson made her first live TV appearance since her much-scrutinized weight gain, performing her song "Pray Out Loud" on CBS' The Early Show Wednesday morning.

Simpson - who taped her spot in Nashville, where she helped announce nominations for the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards - briefly addressed the hype over her new curves after anchor Maggie Rodriguez mentioned all the support the singer has been receiving from fans.

"Honestly, I am right where I'm supposed to be. I am so happy," Simpson said. "Right now I'm on tour with Rascal Flatts, having a blast. We're at Madison Square Garden tomorrow. Everybody's just been so warm and welcoming. Lots of hugs, I like that ... Texas style."

Rodriguez then told Simpson she looked "absolutely beautiful."

"Everything's really great," she said. "It's all about keeping the faith. That's why I pray out loud."

        • Jessica Simpson: ‘I Know What Works If You’re Curvy’
Jessica Simpson is expanding – into the clothing world. The singer, who caught a wave of criticism two weeks ago for wearing a pair of “mom jeans” and a double leopard print belt on stage, has designed a line of dresses for women of all shapes.

“I want to create clothes that flatter every figure. I know how a dress can make you feel so frumpy. I promise mine won’t,” Jessica told the March issue of In Style magazine.

Jessica already has a successful shoe line under her belt and she is now hoping her clothing designs will find favor with women as well.

“We want to reach every type of person – and we do. But mainly I’m all about you wearing the dress, not the dress wearing you,” she said. “I know what flatters a woman, and trust me, I’ve been judged a lot in my life. By now I know what works if you’re curvy.”

Jessica, who has refrained from commenting on her own curvier figure since the “mom jeans” incident,” told In Style that she wants to make women feel confident in her clothes.

“If my clothing and accessories make you feel great and let you walk proud and tall — in big, big platform shoes – then I’m happy,” she said.

        • OK! Cover Story: Jessica's Revenge Diet
These days, Jessica Simpson has got to be stressing out. First an unflattering picture of her onstage caused a whirlwind of buzz about her somewhat fuller figure, and then the country singer struggled during her 38-minute set opening for Rascal Flatts on Feb. 5, forgetting lyrics and appearing nervous.

But whatever happened to her that night, Jessica's got a plan to bounce back, with the help of boyfriend Tony Romo. The NFL quarterback was on hand to support Jessica the following night in Champaign, Ill., — and she dedicated her song, “You’re My Sunday,” to her love.

“There’s somebody special here I love very much,” Jessica told the crowd. “I can just relax with him. He’s my Sunday; he’s my every day.”

There's a reason she can relax with Tony, despite her insecurities. During the hubbub over Jessica’s figure, Tony has been unstintingly supportive of his diminutive sweetheart.

“She’s gone up a size in jeans, and Tony could care less,” a friend tells OK!. “He isn’t interested in some idiot Hollywood bimbo with an eating disorder."

After Jess makes it through the stress of the tour, which ends March 14, friends say the extra weight will disappear too.

"She eats her feelings — it’s hard having people criticizing your every move and ridiculing you on blogs,” one close friend tells OK!. "Once Jessica stops touring [next month], she’ll calm her nerves and the weight will hopefully fall off.”

In addition, Jess will need to cut back on her favorite finger foods like chips and guacamole and make a few substitutions, as well as falling back into a fitness routine.

"She’d much rather gossip with her girlfriends than hit the treadmill, so I know she needs to get a workout buddy to run with her," her friend reveals.

Now who might that be? Says the friend, “Tony would do it in a heartbeat!”

A short time after pictures calling attention to Simpson's apparent weight gain surfaced, she had what her publicist called "an off night" at a show last week in Michigan.

During her 38-minute set as the opening act for Rascal Flatts, The Grand Rapids Press says Simpson forgot her lyrics, struggled with her ear monitors, mumbled through songs and fought back tears. At one point, Simpson asked her band to start over on one song, and she forgot the words to another. Simpson apologized to the audience by mouthing the word "sorry" on two large video screens.

While introducing her last song, Simpson said she sometimes feels like quitting. She appeared to be wiping away tears after finishing the song and walking off the stage.

Jessica Simpson is looking to expand her self-branded fashion line to include home interiors. The singer already has a successful range of dresses, handbags, shoes and boots, and is currently working on lingerie and sleepwear to add to the line. But she has her sights set on bigger things - and is working on her ideas with her mother Tina.

She says, "I'm blessed to have so many ways to express myself. The ability to sit with my mum and find patterns, to go vintage shopping and create dresses - that's a mother and daughter's dream.

"We're talking luggage and bedding now. What I'm really looking forward to is jeans and all the comfy clothes. That's what I wear every single day of my life!"

        • Jessica Simpson will love Tony Romo even if he stinks
Babe Laufenberg, the Ch. 11 sports chief and Cowboys radio analyst, is a hardcore football man. But part of his interview with Tony Romo that aired on The Score last night might end up on the pages of US Magazine. When asked about the criticism that has come his way, Romo volunteered that he dates someone who gets ridiculed pretty often. He revealed that he sometimes debates with Jessica Simpson about which one gets ripped worse. Isn't that cute?!

Minutes later, Romo shrugged off a question about the downside of playing quarterback for the Cowboys.

"I surround myself with people that, if I suck, if I go out there and just stink and I can't do anything any more and get replaced by [Laufenberg] going forward, if that's what happens, OK, well, I know that these people are still going to care for me and enjoy the person that I am and at least know that I worked as hard as I could," Romo said.

Laufenberg, who threw six picks and a garbage-time TD during his brief time as a Cowboys backup, pointed out that Romo would have to really suck to get replaced by him.

        • Jessica Gushes About Tony to Audience
While the recent scrutiny about her fluctuating weight might be getting to Jessica Simpson, the pop-turned-country singer is letting her fans know that there's at least one person who supports her no matter what — Tony Romo.

During tour stops in Michigan and Illinois on Thursday and Friday, Jess dedicated her song, "You're My Sunday" to her quarterback cutie.

"There's somebody special here that I love very much," she gushed to the crowd during her set opening up for headliners Rascal Flatts. "I can just relax with him. He's my Sunday; he's my every day."

But perhaps she gushed a bit too long while her band was leading into the song, as, for the second night in a row, she had to ask them to start it over again.

"I'm nervous!" she explained, though she still managed to belt out the song without messing up the lyrics.

On another note: I've made a huge clearance (so to speak) of the affiliates section - I actually do affiliates check every now and then and I was angry when I saw that many sites I've been affiliated with don't have my link/button up anymore. It includes some websites that I affiliated with very recently: this sucks. If you apply for affiliation with me please have my link/button up asap when you get accepted and don't waste my time, thanks!

        • Jessica Simpson Tells Fans She's Had a 'Rough Week'
After more than a week of battling body bullies and fashion critics, Jessica Simpson showed off her figure in a tiny pair of Daisy Duke-style short-shorts onstage in Grand Rapids, Mich., Thursday night.

"She looked phenomenal," gushed concertgoer Scott Pierce, 27, a local internet technology sales rep.

But Simpson – who seemed nervous and tentative at times – told the crowd of 15,000 that it had been "a rough week." At one point in the show she said, "You definitely have to confront everything you go through."

Though the singer thanked fans last week for their support, the stress of the recent scrutiny may have also taken a physical toll on Simpson, who frequently sipped from a mug during the 40-minute set.

"My voice is weak tonight and I feel so vulnerable onstage," she told the crowd, according to the The Grand Rapids Press.

Simpson, who was the opening act for the country trio Rascal Flatts, stopped singing during one of her songs and asked to start it over.

Responding to reports of a meltdown, her rep tells PEOPLE, "Jessica just had an off night. She’s a perfectionist and wanted to start some of the songs over. She always wants to give her best performance to her fans."

The audience didn't seem to mind. Shouts of "We love you, Jessica," followed her as she finished her performance and exited the stage.

"She looked very nervous," said fan Tanja Barunovic, 22. "She just seemed very shy, but I think she picked a good selection of songs. I loved her CD. It's fun and girly."

Another fan, Ellen Simons, 16, of Grand Rapids, said, "She looked very healthy. I think she is more of a healthy skinny now, rather than skinny-skinny. Celebrities, if they gain five pounds, they are under the worst pressure. It's just not fair to them."

Despite the minor bumps in the show, Simpson told the crowd she had something to look forward to: a weekend rendezvous with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

"I'm excited – I get to see my boyfriend tomorrow," she told the crowd, grinning. "I love him so, so very much."

        • Fans offer Jessica Simpson support throughout struggling Grand Rapids performance
If vulnerability is the conduit of grace, then Jessica Simpson received lots of it from fans in Grand Rapids, who witnessed the singer struggle throughout her emotionally exposed opening set for Rascal Flatts on Thursday night at Van Andel Arena.

The forgiving audience cheered for Simpson anyway. "You go, girl!" one fan yelled out to bolster the star.

"My voice is weak tonight," she said, tearfully, "and I feel so vulnerable onstage." Problems plagued the performance, as Simpson had issues with her ear piece, her voice, and just holding it together emotionally. "Sorry," she mouthed to the crowd, as she lost her place in a song.

At one point during the show, the 28-year-old had her band restart a song after several bars; at another, Simpson admitted she wished she could "walk off the stage," but gamely persevered until the end, giving props to her band. "They had my back the whole time," she said.

It appeared that the singer left the stage in tears after her final song, professing her love for the encouraging crowd.

Simpson has been attacked in the tabloid media lately for supposed weight gain, and her relationship with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is also under scrutiny as headlines scream about his alleged infidelity.

Dedicating the song "You're My Sunday," to Romo, Simpson enthused about her man. "I'm so excited because I get to see my boyfriend tomorrow," she said. "I love him so, so much!"

Perhaps all the negative press got to be too much, opined one fan. "The media is against her," said Josh Cronin, 36, of Kalamazoo. " 'Tony's cheating... 'She's gained weight.' I would have taken the night off."

His wife, Shelly, concurred: "I felt bad for her tonight," she said. "Magazines are ripping her, being so harsh, and she's gorgeous."

Dave Osborn, 38, also from Kalamazoo, agreed that critics had skewered Simpson for no apparent reason. "She is way thinner than she looked in the magazines," he said. "I don't know if they doctored those photos or what." As for her performance, Osborn's opinion was one held by many in the audience: "It was uncomfortable to watch (her struggle)," he said.

Fans who saw the singer up close at the meet and greet before the show were also mystified by widespread reports that the once svelte star had packed on the pounds. "She didn't look anything like those pictures," said Dave Taft, B-93 music director, referring to the recent photos run of Simpson looking slightly heavier. "She looks incredible."

Certainly, the superstar band who had invited Simpson to open for them on this leg of their tour was nothing but supportive. "Watching Jessica perform on tour with us has been just great," said Gary LeVox, lead singer of Rascal Flats, before the show. "She's absolutely great."

        • Jessica Simpson has meltdown in Grand Rapids after Tony Romo fails to show up for concert
Well, it looks like Tony Romo missed his flight to Grand Rapids, where his singer/girlfriend Jessica Simpson is performing tonight at Van Andel Arena. The pop singer/actor turned country artist told a crowd of about 8,000 that she plans to see Romo on Friday.

"I'm so excited, I get to see my boyfriend tomorrow," she said shortly after opening her set with a cover of "These Boots are Made for Walking." Introducing her song "You're My Sunday," which she wrote for the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, she said. "He's the person who makes me relax."

But there was nothing relaxing about her 38-minute set. While singing the ballad "With You," she paused during the middle of the song to take a drink of water while her backup singers took over the lead vocals. After the song, she seemed a little embarrassed and said it's difficult to be on stage and be so vulnerable.

But the night got a little stranger for the 28-year-old Simpson, who has been in the news a lot with her supposed weight issues. She continuously struggled with her ear monitors and often seemed to lose her place in several songs. She even had the band start over on the up-tempoed "Pray Out Loud."

But the show veered into the direction of a trainwreck toward the end of her opening slot for Rascal Flatts, completely forgetting the lyrics to her single "Come on Over" and asking for forgiveness from the audience by mouthing the word "sorry" on the two video screens.

Things were so bad, while introducing her closing song "Do You Know," she talked about how she felt like walking off the stage. At the end of the song, she thanked her band for "having her back." And it looked as if she was wiping away tears as she walked off the stage.

Wow, she may need a little Romo-ance tonight.

        • Tony hits the road for Jessica
After a week of weight scrutiny for Jessica Simpson, her beau, Tony Romo, has joined her on tour for some special support. "He thinks Jessica looks hot and has an amazing body," an insider tells In Touch. "He is there to just be a good boyfriend." The sexy singer, who’s currently on tour with Rascal Flatts, is due to perform tonight in Grand Rapids, Mo., where Tony will be cheering in the crowd. "They are having a blast and he can't wait to see her perform," adds the insider.

After flaunting a fuller figure at a concert in Pembroke Pines, Fla., on January 25, Jessica's body has been the topic of talk all around the country. But Tony, 28, isn't worried about how Jessica, 28, is handling the stress. "She's a strong girl and has great self-confidence," says the pal. The couple has also laughed off recent rumors of Tony's cheating during a party at Jessica’s house. "They think all the rumors of Tony cheating are silly!"

        • Did Jessica Simpson Pull Out Of Self Magazine Cover?
Jessica Simpson’s Weight-Gate has claimed it’s first victim – the singer’s upcoming Self magazine cover, at least according to Us Weekly. Jessica was allegedly scheduled to shoot a cover for the fitness magazine, which she appeared on in 2007, but chose not to bare her body in the midst of the uproar over her new fuller-figure, Us Weekly reported.

Self magazine Editor-In-Chief Lucy Danziger, however, told Access that a Jessica cover was in the works, but has stalled over scheduling conflicts.

“Self would love for Jess to be on our cover,” she told Access. “We’ve had discussions about it but we couldn’t find a date… she’s very busy.”

Jessica might not be headed to newsstands, but the singer is on her way to Nashville, Access has learned. The pop star-turned-country singer is set to join Julianne Hough, Kellie Pickler and LeAnn Rimes on February 11 to announce the 44th annual Academy of Country Music Awards nominees.

        • Jessica Simpson's a country girl at heart
For seven years beginning in the late 1990s, Jessica Simpson was among the rulers of the pop music charts, with songs like "I Wanna Love You Forever," "Irresistible," "With You" and "Take My Breath Away" staking their claim to major hit status. But these days, following the September 2008 release of her No. 1-charting country debut, "Do You Know," Simpson is not only content -- she's arguably ecstatic with both her personal and professional lives. This isn't just because her album has scored a pair of chart hits in "Come On Over" and "Remember That." And it isn't just because Simpson's album also reached the Top Five on the Billboard 200 pop albums chart. After all, she's been there twice before. In fact, Simpson's happiness is measured more by her mind set -- one that looks far past the tabloids that never cease to cover her every move, to the important things in her life.

"I'm definitely comfortable where I'm at in my life and definitely don't feel like I have anything to prove," Simpson said in a Jan. 23 interview from Winston-Salem, N.C. "I'm just kind of living life saying it is what it is and it is what we make it. I mean, for me, happiness has been very easy lately! So it's a nice place to be."

Professionally, Simpson, 28, is enjoying every minute of her time on tour with Rascal Flatts. The tour hits Madison Square Garden Arena in New York City on Feb. 12.

"Those guys put on an awesome show," Simpson said. "It's such a production. But Gary (LeVox)'s voice is incredible and they're so entertaining and they have great fans. Just to be able to open for them is a blessing for me. To be able to perform for 20,000 people a night, it's a ton of fun. And every night, I have such an adrenaline rush, I can't wait to get out there.

"The last time I played Madison Square Garden, my pants ripped," Simpson added. "So let's hope that doesn't happen again! I may have performed there probably four or five times."

Born July 10, 1980, Jessica Simpson grew up in Abilene, Texas, the daughter of Tina and Joe Simpson, the latter a minister and psychologist. Her younger sister, Ashlee, is a pop-rock singer in her own right. As a child, Jessica Simpson sang at her local Baptist church. When she was 15, she recorded a gospel album while attending J.J. Pearce High School. She toured on the Christian music circuit before crossing over to pop in time for her Columbia Records debut, 1999's double platinum "Sweet Kisses" LP.

After touring with Ricky Martin and 98 Degrees, Simpson released her sophomore CD, "Irresistible," which sold more than 2 million copies worldwide. Her third album, 2003's "In This Skin," went triple platinum on the strength of the smash hit "With You," which Simpson co-wrote.

She married 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey in 2002 and became even more of a household name through their TV series, "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica." (The couple divorced in 2006.)

Did the show's editing process give viewers a skewed image of Simpson?

"Oh, definitely," she said. "But I am a dork and I do have my moments. I ask a lot of questions! And I think that definitely, if you watch 'Newlyweds,' it is a lot of who I am. But the editing definitely has a lot to do with what made that successful, I think."

Following the release of her final pop album, 2006's gold "A Public Affair," Simpson went to Nashville to follow in the footsteps of two of her country music idols.

"With Shania (Twain), I just always loved her music because it was fun and always made me smile," Simpson said. "I actually love her lyrics. And Martina McBride has an incredible voice and I've always respected her as an artist. She definitely has one of the biggest voices in country music and I love voices that give me chill bumps, so I always do the chill-bump factor!"

What inspired the country songs Simpson co-wrote for her Columbia Nashville debut?

"The inspiration was really just what I've experienced in my life," she said. "And it was really just going out to Nashville and being there for four months and kind of just tapping into who I am and what I've been through. Toward the end, that's when all the hope and all the inspiration and all the prayer -- it really just ended up being the closure to the record and to certain things that I've gone through in my life. It's cool to be able to do that. I mean, it's awesome to be able to put your life into music and love what you do as much as I love it. It's not a job! It doesn't feel like a job.

"I don't really feel like I ever owned myself as a pop artist," Simpson added. "I mean, when it comes to writing, I end up writing more country. And so I just felt like it was a natural segway. If I'm writing country, I might as well be singing country. It's kind of hard to hide my accent; it comes out anyway. If you listen to some of my older pop stuff, I think a lot of it is more forced than natural. And there's tons of different producers and all that kind of stuff and everybody telling you how to do things. I think that with country it's been just more of a natural way to be myself and own myself as an artist. It's just a lot more relaxing."

So how was writing for "Do You Know" different than writing songs for Simpson's past records? After all, she co-wrote a number of the songs for "In This Skin" and "A Public Affair."

"Writing for this country record, I got to hand-choose the writers I wanted to write with," Simpson said. "It wasn't the label putting me with certain people. It was people that I was already a fan of with their songwriting and their lyrics and their melodies. So I just think that for country it's more focused and I can be more open to talking personally about my life journey -- instead of singing, 'Hey, babe,' you know?!

"I don't know," she added. "It's nice to not have a rap in the middle of the song to actually make it a hit. It actually can really just be about the lyrics and people can be inspired by those lyrics and hopefully be encouraged. That's why I do what I do. That's why I put so much time into it -- because the place that I'm at in my life, to be able to reach out and to (touch) so many people, it's such a rewarding place to be."

        • Jessica Simpson plans to make more country albums
In terms of her goals on the country music scene, singer-songwriter Jessica Simpson simply hopes to continue making music fans will enjoy.

"It's not just a one-album thing for me," she told me in a recent interview. "I'm always writing, so I've already started jotting down some ideas for the next record."

As a rule, she ignores tabloid reports, which she said are often greatly distorted.

"If I did allow that to be my focus, I don't think I'd be the person that I am!" Simpson said. "I would believe in everybody else's opinions about me and not even have my own."

So what should people know about Simpson, who, like it or not, is both a singer and a celebrity figure.

"That I am just a normal person like everybody else," she said. "I'm not doing this for the fame and the celebrity. I'm doing this for my love of music and for my love of being a fashion designer and all these things that I'm doing. The work that goes into it is fun for me. So I guess (I'd like) for people to focus more on me as an artist rather than what goes on in my life personally!"

A day in the life

Prior to our interview, Simpson was "doing normal tour stuff," which included shopping for toiletries at a North Carolina CVS store. And as soon as our interview wrapped up, she planned on focusing on another of her roles -- that of aunt to her sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz's 2-month-old baby, Bronx.

"He's so adorable and she's such an incredible mother," Jessica Simpson said. "I'm so proud of her. ... I don't get to see him as much (as I'd like to), but after we get off the phone, I'm going to iChat. I want him to know my voice. Just because I ended up having to go out on the road and tour, I haven't gotten to spend as much time with him as I would want to. But we iChat and I try to get home as much as I possibly can to L.A. But I spend most of my time off in Dallas."

Simpson also discussed with me the meanings behind some of her songs. Here's what she had to say:

"Pray Out Loud" (latest single from 2008's "Do You Know" LP)

"That was actually the last song I wrote for the record and it kind of ties the record together. It really brought me back to the place of who I am. Faith is definitely the core of my entire being. I thought right now, with our country and everything, it was important for people to come together and know that it's OK to pray out loud and really just all pray together."

"Remember That" (second single from "Do You Know" LP)

" 'Remember That,' I just really found that the first time I heard it, I had to be the one that needs to tell women in any abusive relationship that they're better than that and that they deserve to take their hearts and run and live their life the way they want to live their life and not be controlled. Abuse is really hard to detach from, so I just thought that hopefully it would offer some sort of inspiration to women who are feeling like they're stuck."

"With You" (hit single from 2003's "In This Skin" LP)

" 'With You' is actually just about feeling relaxed in love and like you can just be yourself. That was a time in my life when I was really happy and in love and that's kind of what it was about."

Simpson still performs "With You" in concert.

"It's such a huge part of my life," she explained. "I'm not ignoring that part of my life or completely writing it off. I appreciate all the pop music I have done. And 'With You' was a No. 1 hit for me, so I kind of can't ignore that. So I do that. I do 'Angels,' (as well, from 'In This Skin') because I think 'Angels' is powerful."

Film star

In 2005, Simpson landed a major movie role as Daisy Duke in "The Dukes of Hazzard," which opened at No. 1 and made more than $110.5 million worldwide. She's also been in "Employee of the Month" and "Blonde Ambition." But her favorite film role was her latest.

"I think with this new movie, 'Major Movie Star,' I really grew as an actress," said Simpson, who plays a movie star who, broke and humiliated, enlists in the U.S. Army to turn her life around. "I think with every film, I'm just learning. And with this one, I definitely think my acting is (better) in 'Major Movie Star' than in any movie that I've done."

Jessica Simpson worked the packed house in Charleston, West Virginia wearing tight jeans, black boots and a red top with a black scarf. She told the crowd that she has a man in her life who reminds her that she's beautiful no matter what she weighs. She added that with a dad who's a minister, she believes that the only judge who matters is God.

"Hey... I saw Jessica Simpson at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, WV. I met Jessica. She is sooo sweet!!!! I was the last person in line because I know her tour manager. Awesome man!!!! We got pics taken and talked a bit. She was so kind and grateful for us coming! My friend Dennis and I got to our seats. I had handicapped because I am in my wheelchair. They were awesome seats. I took so many pics. Jessica sounded wonderful as always. She got emotional while she sang Remember That, You're My Sunday, and Do You Know. I got teary eyed because she did. She came on right at 8pm and was off the stage at 8:45pm! I was soo sad when she was done. I was only there bc of Jess, but Rascal Flatts were awesome too! My life was complete last night! I met my idol and I had the best time of my life with my best friend!!"
