While you were sleeping: Jessica Simpson seems to be having a lot of fun with her friends.
        • Jessica Simpson 11 hours late for promo
Jessica Simpson was allegedly 11 hours late for a promotional interview. The actress was due to speak to Lara Spencer of America's 'The Insider' show at 10 a.m.

However, Jessica didn't arrive until 9 p.m., leaving Laura - who had flown to Louisiana, where Jessica is currently filming new movie 'Major Movie Star,' to conduct the interview - waiting for 11 hours.

Jessica's spokesperson blamed the wait on miscommunication, saying, "Jessica did the interview as soon as she was free from shooting."

Last week, Jessica's co-star Vivica A. Fox dismissed claims the busty blonde was a diva. Vivica, who appears alongside Jessica in 'Major Movie Star,' insisted rumours Jessica has behaved like a spoilt brat were just "vicious lies."

She said, "Those vicious lies they put out were just that - lies.

"She was so much of a team player. She was gracious and so down to earth."

Vivica insists Jessica - who plays a Hollywood star who joins the US Army in the movie - worked hard and made a lot of sacrifices. She added, "She showed a lot of physicality, like 90 per cent of all her own stunts, and she sacrificed so much of her body for this movie." AZ Central

August 24, 2007: A fit looking Jessica Simpson leaves a restaurant in LA after hanging out with her male friends. Jessica held her breath and sucked in her tummy for the camera and could also be seen wearing a small gold pendant in the shape of the state of Louisiana. The generous actress bought one of the good luck charms for each of the film crew of her recent movie "Major Movie Star". The actress/singer commissioned jewelry designer Maya Brenner to create the 14-karat gold pendants, which she handed out as gifts at the film's wrap party (hq).

        • Jessica Simpson stuns guests with impromptu piano act
Jessica Simpson's impromptu performance at Shreveport, Louisiana's Olive Street Bistro, has landed her a regular spot at the restaurant. The busty blonde, who has been filming new film Major Movie Star nearby, wowed diners by taking the piano when restaurant dishwasher Marshall Collier sat down to play for diners. And restaurant manager Fernando Maldonado was ecstatic when Simpson belted out classics like Midnight Train To Georgia and Desperado for his guests. Too impressed by her performance, Maldonado immediately offered Simpson a regular place on his stage. "It was so fantastic. Jessica is welcome back here any time," Contactmusic quoted Maldonado, as saying. Simpson booked a table at the Shreveport diner to celebrate pal and hair stylist Ken Paves' birthday.

        • More from Self interview
In the September issue of SELF, Jessica Simpson continues to prove that she's smarter, stronger, and more insightful than anyone's given her credit for. In this exclusive excerpt from her interview, she talks about Newlyweds, her charity work, and how the media has affected her relationships.

On her music
I love creating music of moments for people. A certain song will always take you back to a certain moment. To be able to do that for somebody is wonderful. I want everything on my records to be inspirational. Fan letters are the most amazing things to receive because of that.

On her last album
I was not emotionally prepared to share with my fans what I was going through. I was hurt really badly and was at a place where I felt like I couldn't inspire. I felt like I was the one who needed inspiration at the moment. Although one of the songs that I wrote on that album, "Walkin Round in a Circle," is one of the best songs I've ever written in my life, the rest of the album is just filled with dance tracks. I felt like I was lying to myself and to my fans a little bit. I was afraid to sing from my soul to show people my hurt because of how overexposed everything had already been made.

On being a celebrity
Ever since I was young, I never prayed to be a celebrity or hear myself on the radio or anything like that. I just prayed that God would use me. And in any way he could. I believe my blessing is my singing voice. I can use my voice to be effective.

On the tabloids and her charities
I don't do it so people can be like, Oh, what a good person. I don't need a pat on the back. I want to be there for those kids. That's what matters to me. After this last time when I went to visit the orphanage, the media focus was not on the kids. It was on the fact that I'd gotten a free car and was using it as some sort of publicity stunt. And people around me were like, "Aren't you frustrated that they're saying this or this?" And I was like, you know what, I'm not going to let it get to me. Because these kids have been pained, and I've just set out to do the right thing. I believe in what goes around comes around and in the golden rule: do onto others as they would do Unto you. I try not to let tabloids steal my joy anymore.

On botching the Dolly Parton song
In my eyes, I failed. I let other people down and I let her down. But she wrote me the kindest words. She said "I will always love you." And when Dolly Parton says "I will always love you and don't listen to what other people are saying," that helps you get out of it! It was hard to overcome my fear of getting on stage again, but I did. I got on stage with Willie Nelson to sing gospel. We did "Amazing Grace" and "I'll Fly Away." That was perfect because I was singing gospel so I was praying the whole time! And Willie is just an angel.

On her movie-star idols
Brigitte Bardot is one of the most beautiful women, I believe, of all time. She always had a very curvy and beautiful body. Curves are amazing! I think a woman with curves is the sexiest woman—people are too fixated on being skinny now. The old movie stars like Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe embrace the beauty of their bodies. I'm sure they had moments that they were insecure but I don't know if the world ever made them feel the way the world does today. I'd love to go back in time and understand what it used to be like before everyone fixated on skinniness.

On Newlyweds
I think it's what really gave me my celebrity. I just said whatever and people loved it. They took it in as being something that they could relate to because I was actually a normal person. I think as a celebrity you should always be honest about yourself.

On how the media has affected her relationships
I don't ever want to credit the media for affecting me or my relationships because every relationship that I've ever been in, I've been in it because my heart wanted to be in it. So any person that I'm with has to be, like in Sheryl Crow's words, "Strong enough to be my man."

On falling in love
You have to be brave to let yourself fall in love. Because you don't know where you're going to land. You can't control it, it's an emotion. I believe that the heart is something that is very hard to control. You can control your mind, manipulate it, empower it. But falling in love is falling.

On songwriting
I write a lot of songs from my journals. Or from things that fans have asked me or told me. Just inspirational things in my life. A song has to come from a place of inspiration, or else it doesn't really mean anything.

She says she can only carry on working thanks to the "magic of makeup" - seen here as it hides the bruises and swelling she says she suffered in the accident. Jessica is seen here in uniform, with "Valentine" written on one lapel, on set in Shreveport. In the movie she plays lightweight actress who enlists in the U.S. Army after a car crash (hq).
Jessica Simpson treated the cast and crew of her new movie Major Movie Star with golden good luck charms in the shape of Louisiana. The actress/singer commissioned jewellery designer Maya Brenner to create the 14-karat gold pendants, which she handed out as gifts at the film's wrap party. Texan Simpson chose Louisiana as the pendant shape because the comedy movie was shot in Shreveport, Louisiana. Internet gossip Marc Malkin claims each pendant cost the bubbly blonde $300.

Macy’s has announced plans for a $100 million fall ad drive starring Martha Stewart, Donald Trump and Jessica Simpson in an effort to bolster sagging sales. The ads, beginning on television next month, will also feature rapper-producer Sean Combs and chef Emeril Lagasse, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. All currently sell name-branded items at Macy’s. The $11 billion deal two years ago in which what then was known as Federated Department Stores bought May Co. and grouped all under the Macy’s brand hasn't paid off, the Journal said. Hence, the new plan to put some glitz in the picture. United Press International

But she's especially impressed with Jessica's professionalism. "She's just wonderful and a sweetheart."
"She was like a little sister to me," says Cheri Oteri.
Jessica did her own stunts because she wanted it to look real. "It's such an adrenaline rush," she says. "I never knew I had it in me."
"She's a beautiful but goofy girl," says producer Randall Emmett.

        • 'High School Musical' Star Reports For Duty In Simpson's 'Major Movie Star'
21-year-old Olesya Rulin has gone from Russian dancer to Hollywood star over the past twenty months, riding the "High School Musical " skyrocket all the way to an A-list premiere this week at Disneyland. And in comparison with her Moscow upbringing, things are getting more surreal everyday.

"I got in today to L.A. from Shreveport, Louisiana - from the set of this movie I'm filming called 'Major Movie Star,'" she grinned, giving us some details on the flick she stars in alongside Jessica Simpson. "Now there's all these people here — all these kids and fans and they're all screaming — and I'm so happy to be here."

The "here" was the world premiere of "High School Musical 2," starring herself, Ashley Tisdale and Zak Efron. And once all the screaming and singing was over, she assured us, she'd be back on-set opposite the world's most famous ditzy blonde.

"I'm co-starring next to Jessica Simpson, and it's about a major movie star that joins the United States Army," she explained of the plot. "We've been going through boot camp…and we really are going through boot camp!"

These days, Rulin has been face down in the mud alongside Simpson - a long way from East High School. "I've been going through mortar fire, and swamps, and I have bug bites, bruises and scars now," she said. "There's a group of five of us, and we're running and working together as the army would."

"She's a wonderful soul, and beautiful, and I love her to death," Rulin said of her long-legged co-star. "She's a talented actress, and I'm so happy that she comes to work with 120 percent , and delivers."

After she wraps the flick "I'm going to go to Russia to see my family," Rulin said with a sigh. At that point, things will return to normal for a few months - and then it'll all start back up again when "Major Movie Star" hits theaters in early '08.
Jessica Simpson has hit out at claims she broke her nose on the set of new movie Major Movie Star, insisting the accident wasn't as bad as reported. It was claimed the actress/singer was badly injured during a fall. She was even quoted saying, "I was running with a gun over my head and fell over and broke my nose, it really hurt." But Simpson's representative Lauren Auslander, tells TheCelebrityTruth, "Yes she did get injured, but her nose is not broken."

        • Jessica's Dolly Dilemma Dissolved
Jessica Simpson says all is forgiven between her and Dolly Parton.

It was back in December when Simpson forgot the words to “9 to 5” while singing the classic tune in honor of Parton at Kennedy Center Honors. The performance was so bad, Simpson was cut from the lineup when the gala aired on television.

“I failed,” Simpson says in the new issue of Self magazine. “I let people down. But Dolly wrote me the kindest words. She said, ‘I will always love you,’ and ‘Don’t listen to what these people are saying,’ and ‘I can’t remember those words when I sing that damn song, and I wrote it.’ ”

Simpson blamed her disastrous performance on being nervous after her voice cracked three months earlier while singing on the Today show.

Simpson was chosen by Self editors as one of this year’s 10 Most Inspiring Women because of her charity work with Casa Hogar Elim, an orphanage in Nuevo Loredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and Operation Smile, an organization that helps repair cleft palates of children in need.

Simpson said she decided to end her marriage to Nick Lachey after taking a humanitarian trip to Kenya, Africa.

When asked about the Team Jessica and Team Nick T-shirts sold during their breakup, Simpson laughed: “I received those in the mail like it was an honor or something! People out there need to go to third-world countries and sit with children for a little bit.”

So, how does Ms. Simpson deal with being picked on in the press? “I write in my journal,” she said. “I believe in therapy as well.” E! Online

From: "Egan, Liz"
Date: Wed, 15 Aug 2007
To: "Bried, Erin"
Subject: Flowers

Dear Erin,

You have received a flower arrangement that is, conservatively, three feet tall. Would you like me to open the card and tell you who it's from?

Well, you can probably guess how long it took me to call her back (0.07 seconds). Liz graciously ripped open the card and read it aloud to me (and the half dozen SELF staffers who were, according to Liz, hovering). Here's what it said:

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing such a beautiful and heartfelt article about Jessica. You really captured her soul. Tina Simpson"

So sweet—and a definite first for me. I've never gotten flowers from a celebrity's mom before. Thank you, Tina!

Hopefully, you guys will like the story as much as she did. The September issue, which features Jessica Simpson on the cover, hits stands Tuesday. Check back here in a few days for some more stories and photos from behind the scenes.

Here's a shot of my lovely arrangement. It's got bird of paradise, a fern, some limes and a few other pretty mystery greens. —Erin Bried.

        • Jess' broken asset
Jessica Simpson is devastated after breaking her favourite physical feature - her nose. The 'Dukes of Hazzard' beauty, known for her amazing curves, has previously insisted: "There's a lot of girls with a similar body to mine, but my nose is special."

So that made her even more distraught when she injured it while filming action scenes on the set of her new movie, 'Major Movie Star', about a Hollywood princess who joins the military.

"I was running with a gun over my head and fell and either fractured or broke my nose," she said.

"It's all bruised and swollen. "The magic of makeup is doing wonders. "Hopefully when the swelling goes down, my nose will go back to normal."

Still, despite the painful accident, the hard work has other benefits - fitness. Jessica got in shape for the action movie, and says that the actual work on-set also keeps her in amazing shape.

"I am absolutely stronger than I've ever been. I've never been in this shape in my life," she said.

"I am definitely seeing muscles that I have never seen before. I was like - Wow! I didn't know that was possible!

"I' feeling better in my skin than I ever felt. It's good to get better with age.

"This is the hardest movie I've ever done. Lots of sweat and tears.

"We're basically going through basic training, in full fatigues, running around outside.

"I have gone in swamps with alligators. I am having to use Epsom salts for my bruises every single day!"

It also helped in other way - keeping her mind off her painful split from singer John Mayer. "This film has definitely helped my mind stay focused. There's no time for distractions. It's a great escape.

"I just feel like I'm in complete step with everything in my life.

"It's nice to feel physically great, mentally feel great and emotionally be wrapped around a really great project."

Early news of 'Major Movie Star' has already brought comparisons with Goldie Hawn's classic movie 'Private Benjamin' - with no complaint from Jessica. "To say that this movie isn't like Private Benjamin would be a lie," she admits. "But it's not a remake."

Jessica says being compared to Goldie Hawn "is the highest compliment I could be given - she is one of my favourite actresses".

- Aww poor Jess, hope her nose will heal very soon
Actress/singer Jessica Simpson has denied reports she plans to adopt a child from a Mexican orphanage she has been visiting since she was a teenager. The 27-year-old made regular trips to the Casa Hogar Elim orphanage with her minister father Joe during her adolescence. In a recent interview with Self magazine, Simpson was quoted as saying, "The first time I went to that orphanage I was 16. I remember holding this baby who was found in a dumpster. I wanted to adopt him right then and there... I want to adopt before I actually have my own kids." However, Simpson's spokeswoman Lauren Auslander tells website, "This is not true. She supports an orphanage in Mexico, but she has no plans to adopt a baby at the time."

"My father was a minister, so growing up we'd go on a missionary trip every summer.

"I remember holding this baby who was found in a dumpster. I wanted to adopt him right then and there.

        • Jessica a 'Major' diva? No way, says Vivica
Jessica Simpson: Method actor? The stacked starlet -- with some help from current co-star Vivica A. Fox -- is rebuffing claims that she's achieved a vexing amount of verisimilitude while playing a dizzy, overindulged actress who joins the military in "Major Movie Star," which is currently shooting in Louisiana.

Seems the National Enquirer is convinced Simpson has been channeling her inner diva on the set of the comedy, with a spy alleging she's been "acting like a spoiled brat." Among her purported transgressions: She's tossed "tantrums," kvetched about the steamy southern weather, yelled at her assistants and launched into a "loud," four-letter-filled "tirade" against some wardrobe minions because her costume was "too hot" and making her sweat, a rant that left everyone "mortified."

The snitch also charges that Jessica "barely speaks" to Fox, "and insists on eating by herself in her trailer rather than in the tents set up for the cast and crew."

But Simpson's spokeswoman is quick to denounce the accusations of bad behavior, insisting to MSN Entertainment, "There is absolutely no truth to any of this."

Don't believe her rep? How about a few words from the supposedly ignored Fox?

"It could not be further from the truth," Vivica vows to MSN Entertainment from the set of the film. "Jessica is so professional, so down-to-earth. A jewel. She couldn't be more of a team player and a leading lady. I'm grateful and very happy to be working with her."

As for the tabloid's talk of Simpson being anti-social, it's simply not so, maintains the actress.

"We all get along so unbelievably well," says Fox of the predominantly female cast, which also includes Cheri Oteri. "We talk about what girls talk about. Shopping. Boys. We hang out and celebrate birthdays."

What's more, she adds of Jessica, "I've found a new friend."

Producer Randall Emmett is equally effusive, calling Simpson "a focused and hard-worker" who doesn't complain, even when doing boot camp-style drills in 100 percent humidity.

Previous stories from the set have also been decidedly positive, with a game Simpson reportedly scaling a 40-ft. tower despite her fear of heights, getting submerged in a swamp and talking up the adorableness of her fatigues ("I was surprised at how cute the outfits fit!" she gushed to People).

Jess has also joked about her scenes with Fox, who plays her tough-as-nails sergeant: "When she screams, I feel her breath on my face!"

(Vivica laughingly assures us the proximity is not a problem because she always has "fresh breath.")

The cast, meanwhile, has braved the local flora and fauna while filming maneuvers for the "Private Benjamin" homage.

"I've been wading through alligator-infested swamps and walking through poison ivy," co-star Aimee Garcia recently told People. "We've all suffered injuries. It's very intense." MSN Entertainment

        • Is Jessica Simpson a Diva?
Is Jessica Simpson’s ego steering her career down the same road Britney Spears drove hers? Sources say the beautiful but ditzy blonde’s demanding behavior is pointing towards a crash-and-burn on the set of her new movie, “Major Movie Star.” Read more.

- I really doubt any of this is true!

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been busy plus there wasn't much to report on Jessica lately. Here's a scan from a Polish tv mag called Tele Swiat, the tidbit is about the porn star movie role that was (obviously) turned down.
I guess I will start working on new layout soon!

        • New ad campaign?
It's rumoured that Jessica Simpson may have landed herself a new celebrity endorsement contract after a fizzy water company spotted her carrying their product around and decided to sign her up to a big bucks advertising campaign.
Actress Jessica Simpson has dismissed reports her latest movie is so bad it won't be released in U.S. cinemas. The 26-year-old's upcoming romantic comedy Blonde Ambition, in which she stars alongside Luke Wilson, is allegedly not as good as studio bosses had hoped. An insider tells website, "It is going straight to DVD domestically. It will only come out in theatres internationally. "The movie is absolutely horrible. It's just a bomb, mainly because of Jessica's acting." But a spokesperson for Simpson says, "It's definitely a theatrical release." One of the producers behind the project is former Malcolm In The Middle star Justin Berman, who now lives in the Calabasas, California home that was used in Simpson's hit reality show The Newlyweds.

- I was told that the movie might open in November, can't wait!
