Jessica Simpson Reveals After-Baby Weight Loss Plan

Like all new mothers, after Jessica Simpson gave birth to her 9 lb., 13 oz. daughter, Maxwell Drew, she was ready to go back to her pre-baby body – and fast.

“I think anybody who’s gone through a pregnancy, after they have the baby, it’s like, ‘I need to do something about this,’ ” she tells PEOPLE, in its latest cover story. “For me, I really want to do something that is a lifestyle, because in the past, I’ve been known to yo-yo diet.”

So, Simpson, who Tweeted “so excited to be part of the Weight Watchers family” Wednesday, signed on to work with Weight Watchers, a program she’d planned to do before she learned she was pregnant. When she got the good news, she stopped counting her points.

“I was like, ‘I’m going to enjoy my pregnancy,’ and I did,” she tells PEOPLE. “I ate very healthy, but I did indulge some of my cravings – and that’s okay because I know I can work it off now.”

While her doctor hasn’t cleared her to go to the gym yet, Simpson, who has yet to step on a scale, says she’s excited to get back into shape and that her friends are going to do the program too, for support.

“There’s not a goal weight – I just want to feel normal and fixate on inches,” she says. “I really want to set small goals, so I’m constantly reaching goals and not looking at something so far ahead.”

It’s amazing her friends will be doing this with Jess! :)

Jessica Simpson’s PEOPLE Shoot: Behind the Scenes

As an entertainment writer for PEOPLE magazine, my job often affords me the unique opportunity to meet high-profile people in private situations. However, not many of these experiences have been as intimate as PEOPLE’s latest photo shoot at the L.A. home of Jessica Simpson and her fiancé Eric Johnson, with their newborn daughter, Maxwell Drew.

Jessica and Eric’s house is warm and homey, and the new parents couldn’t have been more gracious hosts. After the shoot was well underway, and a few friends had gathered to celebrate Maxwell’s big magazine debut, Eric surprised everyone with glasses of champagne, and Jessica led a toast: “To baby Max!”

But, there was still work to do. An hour or two later, as we gathered by the pool, Jessica cradled Maxwell for the camera, as Eric distracted their 6-year-old Airedale terrier, Bentley. But, of course, when Maxwell began to stir, Dad turned his attention to the baby, pulling a pacifier out of his pocket to give to her. When that failed to quiet the newborn, Jessica gave her a bottle of milk that she’d pumped earlier in the day. Looking at his new family, Eric smiled. “We’re team Max,” he explained, simply.

I couldn’t have put it better myself.

For all the behind-the-scenes details, check out the video, and don’t forget to pick up this week’s issue of PEOPLE for exclusive photos and an in-depth interview with the proud new parents, on newsstands Friday

And on facebook:

It’s official, I’m joining Weight Watchers! The cool thing about the program is that it focuses on healthy habits for the long-term (and I can still indulge in my guilty pleasures every now and then too). I have actually gotten a group of friends together who are going to be doing it with me. You can join me too and we can share our experiences!

Speaking of Vintage Bloom…

Check out that baby headband I found on Etsy named Vintage Bloom – I think it’s the same one baby Maxi is wearing on the People cover. What do you think? :)

Too cute for words or what? :)

Vintage Bloom aims to capture Jessica Simpson’s “charming, natural” style

In other news, Parlux Fragrances has revealed Vintage Bloom, the new fragrance from singer/actress Jessica Simpson. It is described as a soft, sheer, romantic floral that captures Jessica’s charming, natural style.

“I love the sweet allure of flowers in full bloom, sun-drenched afternoons and cosy evenings with someone I adore. To me, Vintage Bloom is all about my favourite things; it is easy, lovely, joyful and such a true connection to my heart.”

Composed by Stephanie Hakes, Vintage Bloom features top notes of lemon and Caipirinha lime zest. Other key ingredients include raspberry blossom, peony, musk and sandalwood.

The bottle was inspired by a vintage fragrance flacon belonging to Simpson. It was reinterpreted by Lance McGregor of Paul Meyers and Friends. The ad campaign was shot by Michelangelo Di Battista.

The Vintage Bloom product line-up comprises 30ml, 50ml and 100ml edp sprays, plus a 177ml body lotion. The recommended domestic price points range from US$30 to US$65.

“Vintage Bloom is a reflection of Jessica Simpson’s southern charm and wonderful feminine spirit,” noted Purches. “This light, airy fragrance is meant to be a keepsake, a nod to the romance of the past, yet it remains very much connected to the present. This…fragrance is bound to appeal to every woman who’s ever been entranced by the tantalizing scents of a garden in full bloom.”

“Approachable and timeless in her beauty, Jessica Simpson’s style is refreshingly natural, as soft and pretty as her newest fragrance, Vintage Bloom,” added Vince Camuto, CEO of the Camuto Group, the master licensee for the Jessica Simpson Collection.

“We created this romantic invitation, in partnership with Parlux Fragrances, to invite women everywhere to experience the essence of Jessica Simpson herself, a fresh, modern American beauty who’s at heart an old-fashioned girl.”

Very excited about Vintage Bloom and I can’t wait to smell it :)

Jessica Simpson, Daughter Maxwell Do First Photo Shoot

OMGOMGOMG how cute is this People cover? How beautiful is Jess and how lovely and cute is baby Maxwell?! I’m lost for words! Cuteness overload :)

Since Jessica Simpson and her fiancé Eric Johnson welcomed their daughter Maxwell Drew on May 1, “life has completely changed,” Simpson, 31, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “From how I sleep to what I think about, Maxwell has definitely taken over everything!”

In this week’s issue, Simpson and Johnson give an exclusive interview, plus share the first photos of their little one, who’s inherited her mom’s eyes and her dad’s calm demeanor.

“We stare at her all the time,” says Simpson. “We can’t get enough!”

But becoming new parents hasn’t been without its hardships. Recovering from surgery – Simpson delivered via C-section – isn’t easy, she says, and nursing, which she does throughout the day, has become “a full-on job.”

Still, “It’s the worst if I have to pump and give Eric a bottle to give her,” says Simpson. “I miss holding her and having that closeness.”

For more exclusive details about Maxwell’s first few weeks at home – including all the details of her birth, Simpson’s plans for a wedding and more children, and first photos of the new family – pick up this week’s issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday.

If anyone can send me scans of the issue please do! Can’t wait to see more baby pics :)

Captures HD: Fashion Star Episode 10 “Finale”

I’ve finally uploaded the hd captures from the finale of Fashion Star! :)

Jessica Wants ‘Big Happy Family’ with Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo?

“New mom Jessica Simpson wants one big happy family — with ex-husband Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa Minnillo!” reports the National Enquirer.

According to the tabloid, the “Fashion Star” personality received a gift basket from Lachey and Minnillo after the birth of Simpson’s baby earlier this month, and the Enquirer’s “insiders” say “she believes her baby girl will have a ready-made playmate when Nick and Vanessa’s child arrives in September.”

A so-called “close friend” shares, “She’d love for her daughter and Nick’s child to grow up together. She’s even called him and Vanessa to tell them so.”

But the Enquirer sees trouble ahead.

“Jessica has gone overboard with her happy family dream,” explains the magazine, quoting another “friend” as saying, “Vanessa laughs at the thought of forming a mommy’s club with Jessica and becoming her BFF.”

The source continues, “She says Jessica is best appreciated from a distance. I think Jess read a little too much into that gift basket Nick and Vanessa sent.”

Here’s what’s actually going on.

The Enquirer knows that Simpson and hubby Eric Johnson are not going to be “BFFs” with Minnillo and Lachey, so the tab is setting up a scenario in which Simpson is ultimately made to look foolish or humiliated.

But she is not planning any kind of “mommy’s club” with her ex’s new bride in the first place.

A source close to Simpson tells Gossip Cop the Enquirer story is “inaccurate” and adds that Lachey and Minnillo “did not send a basket” after Simpson welcomed little Maxwell Drew.
