With one month to go in her pregnancy, Jessica Simpson has unfortunately had to trade her beloved, sky-high heels for flats and sandals.
“I tried but it was too hard,” the first-time mom to be was overheard telling a fellow shopper in Santa Monica this month. “Wearing heels is like a religion to me, so it’s tough!”
Thus, with her fanciful footwear collecting dust in the closet, the star mom has been compensating with an over-the-top expensive wardrobe. Get all the details on her three priciest looks below.
For her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live March 19, the Fashion Star mentor worked a red-rose printed Roberto Cavalli dress that retails for $2,200. “Apparently I have a lot of amniotic fluid, so whenever my water breaks it will be like a fire hydrant!” she told the host about her pregnancy curves.
In Beverly Hills March 16, Simpson, 30, stepped out in a black maxi dress underneath an elaborate Giambattista Valli jacket. The design boasts leopard-print sleeves, front and back panels made from African tweed and a hem trimmed with Ostrich feathers and a stone and crystal applique. The hefty price tag that comes with such an intricate piece: $4,495.
In Sherman Oaks, Calif. January 21, the star donned a cotton striped Thakoon maxi dress ($725) and carried a python Valentino “Rockstud” bag ($4,495). But the most stand-out wardrobe piece that day was her fur-trimmed gray Dolce & Gabbana sweater coat, which sells for $1,850.
In the April issue of ELLE, Simpson, who is due to give birth to her and fiance Eric Johnson’s first baby next month, posed nude for its cover and revealed that she is having a girl.
Jessica is a very stylish mama! More power to her for maintaining her style during pregnancy. And she does work hard for the money so I don’t see anything wrong with spending it on whatever she wants! Go Jess :)
Who is the most influential person in the world? It’s a hard question to answer, but bless TIME magazine’s hearts for giving it their best shot year after year. The 2012 TIME 100 Poll is now live, allowing readers to vote for their favorite celebs, politicians, artists and other “influencers.”
In the past, reader-selected winners have included Korean pop star Rain, video-game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, and Christopher Poole, founder of the online community 4chan.org — in other words, less-than-famous figures who are beloved by their fans.
So as fashion fans, we had to take a look: which of our favorite innovators made the list? Who are we going to vote for? Here are the style makers who earned themselves a spot on the 2012 TIME 100 Poll:
Sarah Burton: The British designer not only stepped into the intimidatingly large shoes of Alexander McQueen after he died; she also created the most important wedding dress of the century.
Jessica Simpson: As a business mogul, Jessica’s created a billion-dollar fashion business and is now doling out industry advice on NBC’s “Fashion Star.”
Sara Blakely: The inventor of Spanx became the youngest female self-made billionaire to appear on Forbes’ annual billionaires list this year.
Laura and Kate Mulleavy: The brains behind Rodarte have elevated ready-to-wear to an art form, creating clothing for the street, the screen (“Black Swan”) and the stage (Los Angeles Philharmonic’s “Don Giovanni” production, coming this May).
Kate Middleton: Her official duties may be more of the charitable type, but let’s be honest: Catherine’s main job is to power the British fashion industry and launch unknown designers and brands into the stratosphere.
Pippa Middleton: She didn’t need to say a word, letting her form-fitting bridesmaids dress and that perky derriere do all the talking — and influencing. Pippa’s posterior has inspired women to head to the plastic surgeon to get their own.
So which stylish influencer gets your vote? Head to TIME.com now to make your selection — the voting ends April 6 and the winner will be included in the TIME 100 issue. The complete TIME 100 list will be chosen by editors and revealed on TIME.com on Tuesday, April 17!
I’d like to ask for your opinion as it’s been something I wanted to know for a while now. About tabloid scans. Sometimes they’re ok, sometimes they publish lies and twisted words. I’ve decided to post them anyway because they usually printed pretty pictures, I didn’t care much about the text. I stopped reading the articles long time ago. But I would like to hear from you if you think I should continue posting tabloid scans and give you an option to read/view them anyway or should I just stop posting them all together. I’m very interested in hearing from you on this. I kind of always wanted to give you an option to check them out anyway regardless of what they printed and maybe kind of prevent people from spending money on the magazine (=not supporting it), by posting the scan online. Let me know what your thoughts are on this. Thank you! :)
This article is from a blog at Glamour.com and it’s so positive and it brought a huge smile on my face! Hope you enjoy reading it :)
OK, so maybe I’m being a little dramatic with the whole superhero thing, but for a woman who appears to be ready to give birth, Jessica Simpson is unstoppable!
You may have noticed that I am slightly Obsessed with the Fashion Star’s pregnancy. There are a few reasons: 1) I feel like she’s been pregnant for a long time. So whenever she appears on my TV set, rubbing that Buddha belly, I marvel: Wow…She’s still pregnant!? 2) I think I’d look like her if I was pregnant. I’ve never been pregnant but, being the same height as Jessica (that height being…short), I have this feeling that I would look exactly like she does–with an extra 60+lbs on my frame–and it’s an overwhelming thought. 3) There’s no slowing her down! Clearly at the end of her pregnancy, she’s out promoting her reality show–and over the weekend alone she did more than I do in a week.
While I watched seven hours of television yesterday–including everything from the NCAA basketball tournament to the two-hour season premiere of Mad Men–the first-time mom-to-be traveled to Palm Springs for a wedding. And not just sit in the front row and look pretty–she was in the wedding. Her friend (and former assistant) Lauren Zelman got hitched and Jess was on bridesmaid duty for the weekend at the rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception. Of course she was dressed to thrill at both events–complete with high heels.
And if that’s not enough to make you want to put on your own slippers and elevate your feet, Jessica was also photographed running. No, not marathon training or anything like that but she was still hot-footing it. Out to dinner at a BBQ joint with fiance Eric Johnson, when they exited the restaurant the skies opened up and Jessica, who has said her walk has morphed into a waddle, had to run to the car. Here she is…
And in case you’d think being photographed at 9 months pregnant while running in a rain storm would have killed her good mood, her status update from the weekend:
So cheers to her for her motivation and great attitude. It’s inspiring to me because, not having had a kid, being pregnant looks like hard work. And if I had a billion dollar fashion empire, a TV show and residuals flowing in from music and movies, I can’t say I’d be doing more than laying on my couch deciding whether my favorite snack was an Oreo or a Girl Scout Cookie. And I certainly wouldn’t be donning a bridesmaid dress and six-inch heels. Or running in the rain.
Love love love it! I want to read more stuff like it!
We loved Jessica‘s Spring chic look on last night’s episode of Fashion Star! Jessica said of her hair, “If I could wear my hair like this every day, I would!”
Want to recreate the look? Hair Stylist, Jessie Holiday said, “To get this look you can smooth out your natural hair texture using a blowdryer, round brush and some volume styling cream or spray. Then wrap hair around 1-1/4″ curling iron starting the waves under your chin area. Lastly, break up the curls with your fingers, spray with a medium -firm hold hairspray.”
I’m definitely going to try this when I get a curling iron, I have long hair but I never do much with it, I haven’t worn curls in years!
I added scans from the latest issue of Us Weekly to the gallery, click the image above to enlarge the scans.
I’m only posting these tabloid stuff for the pictures as usually they don’t have anything good to say at all or make stuff up… read only if you want to or you don’t get angry easily. That’s my tip for all of the tabs things.
Jessica Simpson is hitting the home stretch of her pregnancy — and the fashionista is making drastic sacrifices indeed to stay relatively comfortable.
“Only one month to go!” the Fashion Star mentor, 31, was overheard telling a fellow shopper at Fred Segal’s in Santa Monica Tuesday, where she and a pal spent the afternoon. “I can’t wear heels anymore,” lamented the star, clad in a black maxi dress and flip flops. “I tried but it was too hard. Wearing heels is like a religion to me, so it’s tough!”
That means that Simpson (engaged to her daughter-to-be’s father, Eric Johnson) will have to amend her child labor plan. Back in November, the style mogul joked to Us Weekly: “I’m probably going to deliver my baby in [4-inch YSL heels]. . .I went to the doctor yesterday and he said, ‘You’re gonna need to get out of those heels!”
During her Wednesday excursion at Fred Segal, the heavily pregnant star was already plotting her post-pregnancy body goal, eyeing a slim pair of Elliot jeans as she blew big bubbles with her gum.
Cheerful if seemingly exhausted, she chugged Fiji water as she shopped — and while she couldn’t buy clothes for herself, she picked up some togs for her little girl at the Ron Robinson store. Simpson snapped up bloomers, shirts from Le Petit Bateau and a polka dot dress.
“It’s like carrying a bowling ball!” Simpson was overheard saying of her belly. “Almost done!”
