It takes quite the woman to get these heavy hitters mobilized for a cause! Oprah Winfrey, Robert Redford, Jessica Simpson, Deepak Chopra and Laura Ling are among the newsmakers and Hollywood names slated to headline at the Women’s Conference 2010 hosted by California First Lady Maria Shriver and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

With a mission of “empowering, inspiring and educating women”, the annual conference expands to three days this year, Shriver will announce Thursday. It kicks off in Long Beach, Calif., on Sunday, October 24, with a March on Alzheimer’s to raise awareness and funds to fight the disease.

Among the program highlights will be Diane Sawyer’s conversation between The Honorable Sandra Day O’Connor and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and a “kitchen table conversation” between Matt Lauer and Schwarzenegger where the Governor will reflect on his seven years in office and discuss what’s next. Others in the lineup include Mary J. Blige, Erin Brockovich, Sally Field, Jane Fonda and Jillian Michaels.

“With this year’s theme of ‘It’s Time,’ we are hoping The Women’s Conference inspires women to see this challenging moment in history as an opportunity to come together and transform ourselves, our communities and our world as Architects of Change,” says Shriver, adding, “I believe it’s time to pick up the pace and start marching to defeat this devastating disease.”

Jessica Simpson would like to set the record straight: she didn’t consult with any plastic surgeon on Monday.

The Price of Beauty star, 29, was photographed visiting a Beverly Hills medical building — one that includes the offices of plastic surgeons — with her dad Joe and several pals. X17online reports she spent “nearly six hours” inside visiting with “numerous plastic surgeons.”

Nuh-uh, Simpson Tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

“True- went to the doctor yesterday,” she wrote. “False- plastic surgery”

The star has had at least one experience with cosmetic surgery: lip injections.

“I had that Restylane stuff,” she admitted to Glamour magazine in 2006, adding that she was disappointed in the results. “It went away in like four months…[but] thank God! [They] looked fake to me. I didn’t like that.”

Dear visitors,

as some of you know from my updates on Twitter and Facebook I was at the hospital last week and had surgery. A week before I was admitted I haven’t been feeling well – actually I’ve been feeling awful That’s why the site hasn’t been updated lately.

I know I haven’t been at my best lately but all of it has a cause… it was a series of unfortunate events really. First my job, lack of time, then I had a flu and then I ended up in the hospital.

I’m better now, still recovering but I’m at home and I can finally use my computer (haven’t been able to update from my bed as I don’t have a laptop sadly). I’m looking for someone to design new look for the site as I am NOT letting go and I still want to continue to bring you pics, news and anything Jessica as I’ve been doing for years in the past.

I just wanted to update you on my condition and what’s going on with me so you have a better understanding of the whole situation. I hope to be back for good asap!

Jessica Simpson headed out to her car yesterday afternoon following a workout at her LA gym. Her healthy lifestyle is evidently carrying over to her diet as well, as Jess just tweeted about her enthusiasm for Earth Balance. She enjoyed a low-key Memorial Day weekend around home with friends and family, skipping out on the beach trips and barbecues that kept other celebs busy — though she did have a recommendation on perfect shoes for the holiday. Jess has had her fair share of photo ops recently, with a night out at the Gracie Awards and a fun evening with sister Ashlee, Victoria Beckham, and Eva Longoria at an LG party.
